Please see below some information that will be of use in your first few weeks.

Please make sure you check your e-mails regularly, it is our main source of contact with you regarding academic issues - you might miss something important if you don’t check daily as a minimum. Please also make sure you empty your inbox regularly.
Reporting Sickness
Telephone the School Office to report an absence on 01392 726004 and email the BClinSci Administrator . It is essential that you also contact the facilitators of any sessions you will miss. On your return; if less than 5 days absence, complete a self-certification form which should be collected from the School Office. If your absence is for more than 5 days a Fitness to return note will be required from your GP. It is essential that you register with a local GP.
Requesting Authorised Absence
There are strict guidelines regarding requests for Authorised Absence, please ensure you familiarise yourself with these guidelines by reading your student handbook. Requests for Authorised Absence should be made at least 5 days in advance giving as much notice as possible. Authorised Absence forms can be collected from the School Office. You will receive an email confirming if your request has been authorised, students should not confirm arrangements until authorised absence has been approved.
AccessAbility and Wellbeing
If you require assistance with your studies or exams due to a disability, learning difficulty or mental health concern, you should contact the University of Exeter AccessAbility Team via theStudent Information Desk Online as soon as possible as your first assessments take place early in Term 1. Please see the Forum leaflet enclosed for further information. You can also contact the UEMS Disability Officer who can provide advice and information for any queries or concerns you may have during your studies.
Extenuating Circumstances / Mitigation
If you are unable to complete any assessment or are unable to meet an online submission deadline, you will be required to complete an Extenuating Circumstances / Mitigation form. Please refer to your student handbook. Extenuating Circumstances / Mitigation forms can be collected from the School Office. Forms should be completed and returned to the School Office within 5 working days. A member of the programme staff will explain the procedure to you. No Extenuating Circumstances / Mitigation form will be accepted without the appropriate supporting documentation.
Family/Personal Emergencies
If you have a family or personal emergency and need to leave the College at short notice please make immediate contact with the School Office on 01392 726004. If out of hours please ensure you leave a short message and follow up with a confirmation email to at your earliest convenience. We would ask that you maintain regular contact with the School Office to keep us updated of your situation. If your absence covers any assessments you will be required to complete an Extenuating Circumstance Form as detailed above.
Personal Tutor Meetings
Your first introduction meeting with your personaltutor should take place between 7th – 11th October 2013; during this meeting you will also discuss your Reflective Journal Logs. It is your responsibility to make yourself available to attend all meetings planned with your academic tutor. If you are unable to attend you must immediately make contact giving justified reasons for your absence. Failure to attend a planned meeting may result in an unsatisfactory assessment or an unsatisfactory formative Professionalism Feedback.
