St Joseph’s is a school for learners (5-19) with moderate/severe learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder and associated problems such as speech & language and other emotional and behavioral difficulties.

Are you a practicing Artist who would welcome the challenge of working with learners in bothgroup and individual situations, helping and encouraging them to develop their artistic opportunities, fine-motor skills and creativity?

St. Josephs Specialist School is looking to employ an Artist-in-Residence to practice within their own studio in its very centre, offering specialist workshops and creative input across the curriculum.

Ideally hours of attendance will be 8.30am – 4.20pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am – 3:45pm on Friday during term time only(36 hours per week). At least 10 hours per week will be spent delivering workshops across the School.

Very occasional evening and weekend work may be required as part of these contracted hours; equally the School is prepared to allow an element of flexibility for the successful applicant to undertake other professional commitments. The salary offered includes 33 days paid holiday (inclusive of Statutory Public Holidays). Although as a general rule this holiday must be taken during School holidays, up to 5 days (consecutive or otherwise) may be taken in term time (with the equivalent amount of time being made up by either evening/weekend/School holiday working).

Requests for holiday/time off during term time will be considered in conjunction with on-going Art department projects.

The positionwill commence as soon as possibleafter the start of the Autumn term 2017and will terminate, in the first instance, at the end of the Summer term 2018.
