Daily sessions will comprise of 2 hours of hockey and 2 hours of other sports with breaks.

Our Coaching Team consists of Ward Phillips, Mark Gray and Amy Wrightall of who have been involved in coaching South Juniors and Minis for a number years and are current 1st XI players.

Any Child Protection concerns should be raised with the Child Protection Officer, Carol Redpath () in the strictest confidence.

Players should bring their own hockey sticks and as safety is of the highest importance, to minimize risk and to prevent accidents ALL players must wear a gum shield and shinguards during training and practice matches. Parents should ensure their child is properly adequately attired for the weather conditions, including shorts, tracksuits, sweattops, rain jackets and suncream. Indoor facilities will be available if the weather is poor.

Please bring your own refreshments for a mid-morning break.Any medicines should be given to the Coach at check-in each morning.

Refunds

A full refund is available you should need to cancel up to a week prior to the event- by Sunday 2nd August.

Cancellations after this date will be refunded if we can fill your vacant place.

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

South Antrim Hockey Club are committed to good practice which protects young people from harm. Members, coaches, officials accept and recognise their responsibility under the United Nations Convention on the rights of the Child and the Children (NI) Order 1995 to provide an environment which promotes the safety of young people at all times. In order to safeguard the young people in our care we will:-

  • Develop an awareness of the issues which may lead young people being harmed.
  • Create an open environment, by identifying a contact person to whom young people can turn if they need to talk.
  • Adopt child centered and democratic coaching styles.
  • Adopt child protection guidelines through codes of conduct for players and all adults working in the club. Adults may include coaches, parents, leaders and volunteers.
  • Ensure careful recruitment, selection and management procedures.
  • Ensure complaints and disciplinary procedures are included in our constitution.
  • Share information about concerns with young people and parents and others who need to know.
  • Provide information as required to management committees.
  • Be involved in training made available through the various agencies, and strengthen links with these agencies.
  • Follow Governing Body guidelines on good practice for coaches.
  • Keep the Child Protection Policy under regular review.
