Naviance - Looking for a list of colleges who are visiting SRVHS this fall – go to Naviance to Sign Up.

  1. Students interested in attending a visit should click ‘sign up’ on Naviance. Print your confirmation page and ask yourteacher to sign the form before coming, preferably the day before (if the visit is during a class period).
  2. Bring a signed pass to the C&CC visit. We have some visits taking place before school on 9:00 start days. Visits are a great opportunity to talk with a rep, ask questions, learn more about a school and demonstrate interest. If you need help with log in, stop by to see us or send us an email.

Parents 10th/11th/12th - You should have a Naviance log in that is separate from your students. If you need assistance, please send us an email. Freshman - You will be introduced to Naviance in Health or Geography class later this year.

Important Dates for Upcoming College Related Events:

Financial Aid Night: Monday, Sept. 26th at SRVHS at 7:00 – Commons. A local college financial aid officer will present financial aid information. New this year (for 2017 seniors), the FAFSA will open on Oct. 1st

Senior College Application Overview: SRVHS Counseling Staff: October 4th from 6:30-8:30 – Commons

Regional Admissions Counselors of California (RACC) Mini Fair at SRVHS (schools listed below): October 12th. We will have a group of representatives from Out of State Colleges who have California Admission Reps assigned to CA to promote out of state educational opportunities. Preliminary schools include: Baylor, Colby-Sawyer, Colorado Mesa, Drexel, Johnson & Whales, Oregon State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Texas Christian U (TCU), University of Colorado: Colorado Springs, U of Oregon, U of Massachusetts: Lowell, U of New Mexico, Washington College Maryland.

Parents are invited to attend a ‘parent’ fair 9:45-10:25. Students will have access to the RACC Mini Fair from 10:30-11:25 and there will be class visit opportunities following.

SRVUSD District College Fair @ Dougherty Valley High School: Over 140 colleges will attend on Oct. 26th from 6:30 to 8:30. Bring your questions for college reps.

  • National College Fair: Performing and Visual Arts Fair @ South San Francisco Conference Center: 10/23 from 1:00-3:00. Go to for updates on the fair and workshops.

Reminder for Seniors - If you need help understanding the application process – make an appointment or stop by the College and Career Center. Remember to:

  • Send your ACT (act.org) or SAT (collegeboard.org) scores to the colleges you plan to apply to directly through your personal ACT/SAT account.
  • Go to Naviance and build a list of schools in “Colleges I’m Applying To.” This is a central hub of information.
  • Teacher recommendations: If you need a teacher recommendation letter, ask a teacher for a recommendation in person and then make your official request to them through your Naviance portal.
  • Request transcripts through your Naviance portal.
  • If you need a counselor recommendation, complete the forms in Naviance “document library” and make an appointment to see your counselor to give her your packet.

Ongoing Test Preparation Announcements from Academic Boosters:Academic Boosters Upcoming ACT/SAT and College Essay Writing Workshops

  • Seniors: Essay Writing for College Applications: Gain a better understanding of what makes a successful college application essay (do’s/don’ts, showing versus telling). Inc. 1 online essay review. Two dates being offered: Sept. 26th (6:00-8:00).Limited space. Signs ups close Friday 9/23.
  • Juniors:A three session PSAT Test Seminar will be offered beginning Sept. 20th for those students wanting to learn more and prepare for the PSAT. See Academic Booster link above for more information and to sign up.
  • Catalyst SAT Bootcamp: Saturday, Sept. 24th and Sunday Sept. 25th (9-1 both days). Being held at Monte Vista High School. Sign up at Catalyst’s SAT Bootcamp is a confidence-boosting weekend seminar that teaches students strategies for every type of question they’re guaranteed to encounter on the SAT. Topics include: Shortcut math questions that stump more than 90% of test-takers, Spot hidden clues that reveal the main idea in lengthy SAT Reading passages, use a proven template to earn perfect scores in reading, analysis, and writing on the new SAT Essay. Catalyst’s SAT Bootcamp is not a mock test. Participants receive 8 hours of instruction, Catalyst’s 300-page SAT Bootcamp book, and personalized feedback.

Job Board:We have new job opportunities posted on the job board in the C&CC as well as in the JOBS Binder.

Work Permits: Students can stop by and pick up a work permit form off of the table by our desk. Students, parents and employers need to sign the form. Once the form is complete, drop it in the basket and we’ll create a work permit for you. Stop back by the next day to pick up your form (on Fridays forms can be picked up in Counseling). Work permits may also be issued at the SRVUSD District Office
