SUNDAY SCHOOL CHECK-IN / REGISTRATION PROCESS

  1. WELCOME
  2. Greet each child and adult as they come in.
  3. REGISTRATION / CHECK-IN
  4. Determine if the child is already registered (ask them, or if they don’t know you can check the class lists on the clipboards by asking the age/grade of the child)

-How to Register/Check-In is dependent upon whether they have registered or not.

  • If already registered:
  • Great! Easy! Have the child find their nametag and the adult initial the check-in sheet on the clipboard for the appropriate class (based on their age/grade).
  • If not already registered:
  • No Problem! Let’s Get ‘Em Set Up! If they don’t have a registration form, hand them a form to complete and ask them to give it to you when they have completed it. When they turn in the completed registration form, for each child between age 3 and grade 6, you will write each child’s namefrom the registration form on the bottom of the appropriate class list(s) based on their age/grade and ask the adult to initial their child in. You will also give the child a nametag with the right color on it for their appropriate class.
  • If someone is just visiting and they do not wish to register (maybe they live out of town or are with a friend), please ask them to complete only the key information on the registration form that we would need in order to get in touch with them if necessary during Sunday School that day (we do not have to register them formally, but do need name and contact information). When they turn in the registration form with that information, write VISITOR on the form. For each child between age 3 and grade 6, write each child’s name from the registration form on the bottom of the appropriate class list(s) based on their age/grade and ask the adult to initial their child in. You will also give the child a nametag with the right color on it for their appropriate class.
  1. BROCHURE AND INFORMATION / INSTRUCTIONS
  2. If it is their first time coming to Epworth’s Sunday School and/or Nursery, hand them a brochure, explain how things will flow and where they will pick up their children at 10:15am, as well as answer any questions they may have. Then tell them that <insert escort’s name> will escort their child to the appropriate location.
  3. ESCORT TO SANCTUARY (OR OTHER LOCATION IF NEEDED)
  • The escort will take children to the appropriate places (Nursery – if under 3, Sanctuary – for ages 3 through Grade 6, or Catacombs – for Grade 7 through Grade 12). If the child is new, then they will also make sure the child is introduced to someone at their destination (Hopefully in the Sanctuary you can find someone with the same color on their nametag and introduce the child to them!)

Please note:

You will need to pick up the clipboards and other supplies (nametags, pens, markers and extra clipboards) from the Church Office by 8:45 each Sunday morning.

After 9am, and before 9:15am (after most Sunday School kids have been checked in) – take clipboards to the Sanctuary and place on the front left pew for Pastor Trish to hand out to the teachers at the dismissal from the opening. Teachers will take their clipboard and their kids to their classrooms (checking names from board match kids so they have everyone!).

Clipboards are to be returned to the Church Office once all children are signed out.
