Morecambe Bay part of vanguard. – Invested money in ICC’s

Tomorrow Tackling poverty workshop – Working across the board to bring this together.
-Things are looking good.

Whole country divided in STP Areas. We are in – Lancashire and south Cumbria.
Another one for North Cumbria.

-Mental health is involved in that foot print.
-Will evolve over time.
-Currently a plan to change CCG Boundary’s – Almost certain moving to Morecambe bay boundary.

Mike Wilson – Mental health is very close working with the 3rd sectors and middle sector on behalf of Suicide prevention.
-No final outcome – Will have one by February.
Public Health Locality Grant for the Forum and the Gateway
Verbal Update – Provided by Simon Blyth
5 Year agreement to provide funding to community groups. £88,000 total grants available
Cabinet decision approved 1,800 to the gateway group.
SLDC will retain board member – Funding agreement in line with council plan.
  • Gateway centre based in galingale – Open to the public and gives advice.
  • Better way of proportioning money locally.
  • Will help develop smaller charities.
  • Has potential for match funding.
  • Will support & encourage smaller charities.

Healthy towns/ Healthy City’s – Ulverston Meeting – Morning of 13th December 2016.

Older People – Strategic Direction and Group Discussion.
Starting 3pm.
-Loneliness x 2
-Developing healthy towns – as Public health.
-Age UK been doing work around loneliness – to find out if there is any rationality behind it been a lot of assumptions of loneliness being around poverty.
-Research shows it is more person – links to depression – no visible links to poverty.
-Biggest difference you can make is to increase their income – but just because someone is on a low income it doesn’t make them lonely.
-Different types of loneliness.
Hand outs pasted around.
-Been able to use loneliness figures to help people over the Christmas period.
-People with bereavements issues – Lack of confidence – Due to partner of X amount of years not being with them.
-Family is not as nearby, less contact with families.
-Therapist’s saying they will help the elderly for the first trip out – The first step.
-Quite often when a loved one is lost the loneliness kicks in mostly a year on.
-Provide broadband for people.
Social isolation is a big issue – work with wide range of needs.
Person centred – loneliness
Working with Age Uk – HAWKS – Compass plus model.
Bring out similar statistics.
Staff need to be creative – Make right decisions.
Adult social care
Looking at Community resources.
When someone is highlighted as lonely – A lot can be done first before being helped by Adult social care services.

HAWKS and Care navigators – Different jobs. – helping people appropriately to their needs.
-Need more communication.
Making sure there is an increasing level of understanding – especially within communities.
Maintaining independence.
CAST – Information support team.
Make sure everything is presented in a way so it sounds like it’s their decision.
Organisations to provide trial periods in sheltered housing.
Sport England- How to keep people physically and mentally able to have these conversations at a later stage.
Giving information out to people that register a death, a year down the line when the loneliness kicks in – They could start to become more physical.

In the last year the budget has nearly tripled.
A lot of work around this.
