AWARDS Best of Show, 1st Place (Undergraduate), 2nd Place (Undergraduate), Honorable Mention (Undergrad), 1st Place (Graduate), Honorable Mention (Graduate)

JUROR

ELIGIBILITY Any student currently enrolled in classes at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Eachartist may submit up to three works for review. Any type of artwork (painting, photography, sculpture, prints, 2D, 3D, graphic design, video, motion graphics) is eligible. Works should be submitted via Google Drive. Motion work should be uploaded to Vimeo or YouTube and submitted through a link embedded and shared through a Google Document. Instructions can be found on page 2.

  • Art Student League Exhibition Prep Pizza Party:
    Tuesday, March 21inFine Arts Building Room 108. Elijah Gowin and Andy Julo will talk about photographing work for submissions and provide tips on framing.

Show is Juried

Guest juror Lynnette Mirandawill select which works submitted will be included in the 2017 UMKC Student Art Exhibition. You can find information about Lynette on her website:

Notification of Acceptance

All students will be notified whether or not their work has been accepted forexhibition by

Art Drop Off

All work must be delivered between April 17—21, 2017 during normal gallery hours:

Monday: 9-5, Tuesday: 9-2, Wednesday: 9-5, Thursday: 9-2, Friday: 12-4.

*The UMKC Gallery of Art reserves the right to reject any artwork not presented in a professional manner and/or not ready to hang. Framing is highly preferred, though professional mounting can also be accepted. For installation-based and video works, the Gallery must be notified in the applicant’s submission each entry’s spatial requirements.

Opening Reception

A public reception with awards announced will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5-7PM

Google Drive Instructions

Deadline for Student Show submissions: April 7, 2017 at 11:59PM

1. You will need a Google account in order to submit. If you do not have a Google account, it’s very simple, just go to Google.com and follow instructions on creating a new account.

2. Go to log in.

3. Upload your image(s) at 72 dpi. Do not exceed 1 MB in file size.Files must be saved as .jpeg or .pdf. **If you have a video, add the Vimeo or YouTube link to a Google doc along with the information below (double check that your link works), and complete steps 4—8.

4. Name your images/files: First Name_Last Name_01, First Name_Last Name_02, etc.

5. With your image file selected, go to the right side of the screen and click “Details” (located under the title of your image on the right). You will see information such as type, size, owner, etc.

6. Towards the bottom of the page click on the pencil that allows you to edit the description. In the description, please include the following information:

Title

Artist Name

Medium

Dimensions (duration for 4D work)

Year created

Price (if available for sale)

Insurance Value

Preferred email

Phone number

7. Right click on the file and click “Share.” In the box, type in and click ‘send’ (there is also a box where you can add a note if you choose to do so.)
