Assistant Construction Manager for Dallas Area Construction Development Company

Requirements:

Candidate must have experience in commercial construction including pre-development due diligence. Candidate must be skilled in reading and reviewing architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction drawings. Candidate must possess a strong knowledge of the entire development process from pre-development to completion. Prefer BS in Construction Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Qualifications:

Candidate should be highly detailed, well-organized and able to identify strategic construction and development issues. Candidate should have a strong work ethic and the desire to learn and grow with the company. A diverse background in a variety of commercial development projects is essential. Candidate should have exceptional analytical and problem solving skills as well as good oral and written communication. A strong working knowledge of Blue Beam Revu or Auto Cad is preferred.

The desire to increase job knowledge and productivity by participating in educational opportunities; attending client meetings; visiting jobsites; reading professional publications; attending various city planning meetings to help market the company and solicit new projects is key.

During Pre-Construction:

The Assistant Construction Manager will work directly with the Construction Manager on a full gamut of responsibilities including but not limited to: preparing cost estimates, budgets, contract agreements, lease agreements and construction schedules for the client. Soliciting invitations to bid and help with selecting the contractors and consultants that are required and will be able to provide required explanations/answers to the contractors and other professionals associated with the project when questions or problems arise. Coordinate and collaborate with the architects, engineers and other specialists as required. Help to ensure the construction project complies with all city requirements and any other legal or regulatory requirements.

During Construction:

For a construction project to meet time and cost objectives, the construction project manager and his assistant must work as a team. An assistant construction manager works with his seniors to oversee the daily management, coordination, supervision and successful completion of projects. To succeed in this position, it is crucial the candidate have the ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands in an extremely timely manner. When delays or problems occur – as they always do – our company is the project’s first responder. We have to be ready to make the changes required to move the project past the issue immediately.
