Meeting Minutes – March 10, 2016
Attendees: Pam Sultzaberger, Lou Waleff, Kristina Thompson, Erika Frank, Anne Fitzpatrick; Students: Bree Sultzaberger, Dustin Waleff, Dominick Sultzaberger, Savay Thompson, Danica Fulmer, Bria Fulmer, Jenna Fitzpatrick; Assistant Principal: Rob Benkovic
Call to Order/Welcome: Pam Sultzaberger, Vice-President, opened the meeting at 7:00pm. (Brenda Waleff was unable to attend.)
Secretary’s Report: The February meeting minutes were reviewed. A motion to approve was made by Kristina Thompson. It was seconded by Lou Waleff, motion was approved.
Treasurer’s Report: With the addition of money from Hershey fundraising and membership dues and expenses including a donation to the Watson family and the purchase of gift cards for the staff gifts committee, our current balance is $5,985.94.
Membership: Our membership has increased by two members. A full report will be available at the next meeting.
President’s Report: No Report.
Staff Appreciation: Erika Frank reported that staff lunch for National Teacher Day will be Tuesday, May 3 and will be a loaded potato bar. She will have a signup sheet go out closer to the time.
Staff Gift: Bree Sultzaberger held the staff gift drawing with Karen Eisenhauer (Spanish) winning a $10 Sheetz gift card.
Hospitality: No report.
PAC Advisory Committee & School Board: No report.
Scholarship: Deadline for applying is April 8. Results are due back to guidance by April 21. A Motion to approve 1-$1500 scholarship, 1-$1000 scholarship, and 4-$500 scholarships was made by Dustin Waleff. Seconded by Bree Sultzaberger. Approved.
Wish List: No requests.
Website: Brenda Waleff sent a report that the website is up to date.
Fundraising: Linda Topp will be handing over the committee to Dena Clare on April 1st with the new contract with HERCO. Hersheypark opens for Springtime in the Park on April 2nd.
New Business: Nominations are open for officer positions. Current nominations are: Brenda Waleff-President, Pam Sultzaberger-Vice President, Erika Frank - Treasurer. We are in need of a new Secretary and a committee positions.
Old Business: None.
Student Report: Danica and Bria Fulmer gave a report as to their accomplishments and achievements during their high school career.
Principal’s Report: Mr. Benkovic reported AP exam information was sent out this past week; the musical was performed this past weekend and was amazing and entertaining; this Friday, the girls basketball team will be playing a final 8 State Tournament game against Cumberland Valley at 7:30 at Milton Hershey; spring sports are starting and it was noted that there was no snow on the baseball field this year, unlike past years; the 4-Diamonds mini-thon had a decent turnout and the dodgeball tournament was very busy this year; the good character breakfast will be held March 23, Keystones will be taken May 16 through May 27, freshmen need to pass the tests to graduate (rather than current juniors); this year’s senior class is the last class that must complete a graduation project to graduate; course selections have been turned in with newly offered English classes being Poetry, Dramatic Arts 2, and Creative Writing 2, and a newly offered Science class being AP Environmental Science; and the prom will be May 6 at the Radisson (Junior Class Advisors is Mrs. Kelton, a Learning Support teacher in the History hall).
Meeting was adjourned at 7:38 pm. The next PTSO meeting will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 7:00pm in the conference room across from the library (enter through the main entrance).
