- AVERAGE DAILY GAIN (ADG) will be measured from weigh-in day to weigh-out day. This phase has 100 points possible. Winning Steer will receive 100 points with remaining steer receiving the percentage of their ADG divided into the Winning Steer. (Ex. Winning Steer is 3.5lbs/day and second place steer is 3lbs/day. Second place steer will receive 3.0/3.5= 85.7% or 85.7 points)
- Show Ring Placing will be determined during the PCJLS Production Steer Class. Points will be awarded evenly from first to last place. This phase has 50points possible. Take the 50 points possible and divide that by the total number of steers to determine the how ring placing points. (Ex. If there are 20 steers, each placing is worth 2.5 points (50/20). The first place steer gets 50 points, second place 47.5, third place 45, etc.
- Carcass Placing will be determined by using the OK Steer Feed-Out Carcass Index which uses carcass weight, fat cover, rib eye area, internal fat, and quality grade to rank carcasses according to industry needs. Points for this phase will be the actual index value.
- Record books will be turned in after the steer weigh-out date. Forms and guidelines for the books will be furnished. The record book has 50 points possible.

Photos of the steers at the start and finish of the program will be shown. A carcass auction will follow. Carcass price will be started at the break-even price. Sale order will be determined by point placing. The high-point steer (bell ringer) will sell first and the low-point steer sells last. If an exhibitor has more than one steer, the steer earning the highest points will sell first. However, the other animal(s) owned by the exhibitor would not sell until after each exhibitor had sold one animal. The "extra steers" would be placed in the sale order by point placing.
