1 / Welcome / Martin welcomed everyone to the DSHP board meeting and called the meeting to order. Everyone introduced themselves because of the number of guests.
New DSHP members Novo Nordisk reps Theresa Tsang and Joseph Rothengast were thanked for their donation of dinner. / Meeting called to order.

3 / President’s Report /
  • TouroUniversity Phi Lambda Sigma Mentorship Program – Fraternity member Raymond Chow reported that Phi Lambda Sigma is seeking pharmacy leader volunteers to provide mentorship to their members. This is the second year of this program at Touro. This may offer the opportunity to provide mentorship to a student without the commitment of being a rotation preceptor. Please contact Ray if you are interested.
  • CSHP Regional Delegate Conference held at St. Joseph Med Ctr, Stockton.
  • The meeting was well done, and participants found it wowrthwhile.
  • Martin commented to CSHP that DSHP provided the largest number of participants in this region, yet they all had to travel the farthest. Site rotation was suggested for next year.
  • Seminar 2011 Delegates Attending and Responsibilities:
  • Delegate training session 4-4:30p 11/3. All of the DSHP delegates have represented the chapter in years past, so none will attend training.

- Amy Griffith (Touro chapter president) will forward edited scholarship announcement to UCSF and UOP chapter presidents
- Scholarship process: A) students will need to be pre-existing members of their local/school CSHP chapters; B) students can email DSHP their intent to apply for the scholarship by 10/28/11; C) after attending Seminar, students will submit their essay on what they have learned at Seminar and how they have benefited from the experience to DSHP nu 11/11/11; D) Submissions will be reviewed and two (2) winners will be selected at the November Board meeting; E) Winners will present at a future DSHP Board meeting.
- The Touro students will cover the 10-11a time slot while Barbara Uenaka and DSHP are being honored at the awards ceremony.
- Donna showed the DSHP poster that she created that will be displayed in the DSHP education room.
- Barbara Uenaka accepted donations for the silent auction, will label them as donations from DSHP members, and will drive them down to Seminar.
- Additional donations may be brought to any of the 4 DSHP dinners prior to 10/28, or even during the Seminar.
- Pharmacy Directors interested in volunteering to participate in the Reverse Exhibit Hall should contact Martin.
- The CSHP Board will review DSHP’s bylaws at their meeting at Seminar on 11/2. There are no other chapter bylaws on the agenda.
- Monica will check to see whether Pfizer can support the Installation dinner, and will report. Spouses dinners will be paid by DSHP, with a $25 charge to spouses.
- Grace will provide the DSHP Candidate Slate to Phil Swanger.
- Phil will be asked to distribute the ballots electronically via Survey Monkey on Monday 11/14/11.
- The Election will close 11/30/11.
- Grace will request election results from Phil on 12/1/11.
- Jeff will remain as Membership Chair.
- Martin will write and submit an article on DSHP activities within the week.
- DSHP voted to double the match to PAC donations to $1000

  • ~$29,625 balance in account
  • $2673 received from CSHP for new and renewing members. Represents unanticipated income due to large increase in membership
  • Fidelity account – unknown who the current signors on the account are
  • DSHP will reimburse early-bird registration for elected delegates if their employers do not reimburse them. If there are available funds, the Board may consider reimbursement of travel/hotel expenses that are not supported by employers.

  • Current over 280 members – Largest in California
  • several new members/month due to transfers from members who were previously not assigned to a regional chapter. Barbara and Jeff suggested this to CSHP.
