• You must submit THREE forms of ORIGINAL documentation to support your DBS application, a list of current acceptable documentation is available at
  • The DBS application form must be completed in BLOCK CAPITALS and BLACK INK only
  • Any missing information/documentation should be submitted within 5 days from submission of your application.

You are the only person who will receive a copy of the DisclosureCertificate. It is your responsibility to ensure that the Criminal Records Officer has seen your certificate. We will arrange verification sessions for this purpose where you will need to bring your original Disclosure Certificate and a photocopy with you, alternatively immediately upon receipt you can forward your original Disclosure Certificate to us by post or in person at the address below.

  • If sending valuable documents we recommend that you use special or recorded delivery and we will return your documents promptly by recorded delivery. Our postal address is DBS, UK/EU Admissions Office, Anglia Ruskin University, Bishop Hall Lane, Chelmsford, Essex CM1 1SQ. Alternatively you can take your documents in person to the Chelmsford Admissions Office, First Floor, Ashby House, or Cambridge Admissions Office,Second Floor, Abbeygate House or Main Reception, Guild House, Peterborough.
  • If you have any convictions, cautions, reprimands, cautions, reprimands or final warnings which would not be filtered in line with current guidance you must indicate this on the DBS form in section E. Further information on filtering is available at The Criminal Records Officer will contact you once your form has been submitted and request further information on the offence(s). This information will be held until the Enhanced DBS Disclosure certificate is received and compared to the information provided. You may be requested to obtain an independent character reference so that your DBS Disclosure can be represented to the Disclosure Panel. The Disclosure Panel will review all the information and make a decision as to your suitability to commence with the course. The decision could be that you are withdrawn.
  • Payment for the DBS application will be required. The current charge made by the DBS for an Enhanced Disclosure is £44.00. To make this payment please use our secure online payment store,
  • Anglia Ruskin University will accept DBS Disclosures completed through external organisations which have been completed on or after June 17th 2013, are at the Enhanced Level, are checked under the Child AND Adult workforce and have been registered to the DBS online update service within 19 days of the date on the Certificate and annual subscription paid.You may also wish to register your Anglia Ruskin University DBS to the Online Update Service so that it is portable and available to employers and other organisations, further information on the Online Update Service is available at
  • The DBS application is a condition of your offer to study on your chosen course, and failure to complete the process fully will prevent you from undertaking practice placements which will jeopardise your course.
