This unit of work explores Tudor life in Ledbury, Herefordshire, based around the following three themes:

·  Tudor buildings in Ledbury.

·  The lives of the rich and poor in Tudor Ledbury.

·  Discovering wills.

This material is intended for Key Stage 2 pupils, and complements the History National Curriculum study of local community, and also History Unit 8: What were the differences between the lives of rich and poor people in Tudor times? There are also many opportunities for cross-curricular study with Geography and Art and Design.

The activities offer interesting and challenging ways in which pupils can learn about Tudor life in their local community. Although based around Ledbury trails and local historical sources/monuments, the themes can be translated to the study of Tudor life in many other areas of England.
