INSTRUMENTAL LESSONS - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Fees for lessons and instrument hire are charged at the rate published on the fee schedule. Fees and instrument hire are paid termly in advance. However, when a pupil first starts lessons it is possible that the first term’s fees will be charged in arrears, and subsequent terms will be charged in advance.
The fee is for 10 lessons per term (30 annually). For a pupil continuing with lessons from one term to the next the quantity of lessons may vary each term but will total 30 per year.
Any outstanding payment may result in lessons being suspended.
If it is agreed that a pupil can start lessons midway through a term, then the fee will be charged accordingly.
If lessons are missed because a pupil is away from school through illness or for another pre-approved reason then efforts will be made to make up the missed lesson.
If lessons are missed through forgetfulness or other reasons when a pupil is in school then the usual charge for the lesson will be levied and the lesson will not be made up.
Examination fees, music, strings, reeds and rosin supplied will be added to the fee account and acceptance of these terms provides the authority to add these items to the fee account.
A minimum of half a term’s notice, in writing, is required if lessons are to stop during the school year. Pupils may continue with attendance during the notice period. A term’s fees in lieu of notice will be required. Lessons can only be discontinued at the end of a term.
This agreement remains in force as the pupil moves through the School (i.e. from Queen’s House to The Abbey to Senior School to Sixth Form).
SINGING
All pupils in Year 7 are voice-tested when they join the School. Singing lessons (in small groups) are offered to those who the Head of Singing thinks would benefit. These start in the January of Year 7 and are free for two terms (Lent and Trinity of Year 7). Pupils then have the option to stop, or continue with the lessons in Year 8, for which there will be a charge. The charge will be the same as for instrumental lessons and lessons may be taken on a group basis or on an individual basis.
