Crater FFA Alumni Meeting Minutes November 5, 2013

Meeting opened at 6:43 PM. 33 members and guests present.

Treasurer Brenda Redhead reported an opening balance of $23,411 with expenditures of $138.00 for the Spaghetti Feed, and $4,000 for National Convention team travel., $1908 loan for plane tickets to National Convention was repaid back into our account.

Brenda then played a power point to highlight the recent National Convention trip and team performance.National Team Results:
Livestock Evaluation-3rd Gold team
-Claire Gladman- 5th high individual ($600 scholarship)
-Sammie Beck- 5th high in reasons
-Claire Gladman- 2nd high in beef
-5th high team in test
Team members: Claire Gladman, Sammie Beck, Jessica Juvinall, Cali Drake.
Agricultural Sales- 9th Gold team
-Jacquelyn Brown- 5th highindividual ($600 scholarship)
Team members: Gabrielle Redhead, Jacquelyn Brown, Rachel Boggs, Hannah Kyzer.
Agricultural Mechanics- Silver team
Team members: Derick Shurr, Mitch Garvin, Derik Florey, Zack Allen.
Veterinary Science- Silver team
Team members: Ellie Puttman, Grace White, Sydney Beck, Breanna Swanson.

Cari Brotherton was recognized for her fantastic work on the National team jackets.

Christian Inkley thanked the group for supporting him as he attended National Convention to receive the coveted FFA American Degree.

Jesse Warntjes discussed the State Degree deadlines for juniors and seniors, reminding everyone the test is scheduled for 2:00 pm, December 11 at Eagle Point High School and degree applications are due 19 December for those who pass the test. Practice exams are available on the FFA website.

Lynn reviewed the Upcoming calendar, pointing out the chapter competition for public speaking events on 17 December and the Greenhand Social on 9 December. Ag Sales competes at Districts in two weeks and has commenced practice.

We discussed the upcoming Christmas Tree Sale scheduled for 7/8 and 14/15 December and passed around the worker sign-up list.

How Can You Help? Drop off or send with your student:

- roll(s) of wire-edged ribbon and Christmas decorations for Christmas wreaths

~ Canned food for our community food baskets

~ Empty baskets (preferably with handles) for our Silent Auction

~A roll of clear cellophane to wrap Silent Auction baskets

Charlie Brotherton talked about the Crater Foundation Scholarship Auction on Saturday, 7 December and Brenda reminded us we had set aside $300 for an auction item to donate to the Foundation.
