REPORT OF THE EXAMINERS ON THE ORAL EXAMINATION

JOINT REPORT
The examiners are asked to write a short joint report on the candidate’s oral examination and to comment on the examination as a whole.
JOINT RECOMMENDATION REPORT– FORMAL NOTES FOR THE CANDIDATE
Where revisions are to be recommended, please detail the PRECISErequirements below which will be transcribed to the candidate formally in writing.
Please indicate if the candidate was provided with any material to assist their revisions when they left the examination room. e.g. annotated thesis (whose), list of corrections (whose), etc.
With the agreement of the examiner(s), where minor revisions are recommended please indicate the means by which they are to be submitted by the candidate to the Research Degrees Administrator– please tick option and record preferred choice to view the revisions:
i)full soft-bound thesis – with changes highlighted or tracked changes ;
ii)full electronic thesis - with changes highlighted or tracked changes;
iii)e-mail only the amended sections of the thesis – with changes highlighted or tracked changes.
RECOMMENDATION
The Examiners are requested to select ONE of the recommendations listed below:

Direct award
- The candidate should be awarded the degree of MPhil.
Minor revisions – normally to be completed within 6 months of the examination
- The candidate should be awarded the degree of MPhil subject to minor amendments and corrections being made to the thesis to the satisfaction of the internal examiner.
- The candidate should be awarded the degree of MPhil subject to minor amendments and corrections being made to the thesis to the satisfaction of the external examiner(s).
- The candidate should be awarded the degree of MPhil subject to minor amendments and corrections being made to the thesis to the satisfaction of both/all examiners.
Resubmission – normally to be completed within 12 months of the examination
- The candidate should be permitted to re-submit a revised thesis and be exempt from further examination, oral or otherwise.
- The candidate should be permitted to re-submit a revised thesis and, if deemed satisfactory by the Examiners, the candidate will be exempt from further examination, oral or otherwise.
- The candidate should be permitted to re-submit a revised thesis and must undergo a further oral or alternative examination.
- The thesis is satisfactory, but the candidate must undergo a further oral or alternative examination.
No award
- The candidate should NOT be granted the degree of MPhil and should NOT be permitted to be re-examined.
