ANIMAL SCIENCE COMMUNITYALLIANCE
PURPOSE:
The Animal Science Community Alliance (ASCA) is a leadership group comprised of sophomores, juniors and seniors in the Department of Animal Sciences. Each member will serve as a small group leader in the required ANSCI 2700 course, assist in the recruitment of high school students, and be engaged in the planning of departmental and/or college events to build community like the CFAES Back 2 School Bash.
QUALIFICATIONS:
♦ Full-time student majoring in animal sciences, animal nutrition or meat science
♦ Sophomore, junior or senior rank after this spring semester (May 2014)
♦Completion of ANIM SCI 2700 (if you started at Ohio State AU’13)
♦Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
♦ Positive attitude and strong work ethic
♦ Appreciate students with a variety of interests, backgrounds, and career goals
♦ Excellent communication skills & dedication to the team
♦Enthusiasm!
Students that will be competing on a judging team need to identify dates that they will be absent in the upcoming academic year prior to the interview process, if chosen to interview.
MEMBERSHIP EXPECTATIONS:
♦Attend the training & team building retreat August 18th – 21st (Monday – Thursday)
♦Attend all team meetings each Tuesday from 7:00-8:00 am (unless stated otherwise)
♦Attend and lead all ANSCI 2700 recitation sessions during the last 7 weeks of the fall semester (Thursday’s 4:10-5:05 pm), and the first 7 weeks of spring semester (Thursday’s 4:35-5:25 pm)
♦Actively participate in the recruitment of high school students into the department through events, emails, phone-a-thons, online chats, and strategic mailings
♦Assist in the planning and implementation of the CFAES Back 2 School Bash
♦Create implement events to bring a sense of community
