Big Local Wormholt and White City Community Chest Fund Registration and Application Form

We can only accept project ideas from people who live in the White City and Wormholt area or from organisations based in the area. The Community Chest Fund will support activities which improve the lives of local residents. Those activities can be small scale or more ambitious but the maximum grant we can give is £2000.00 and will usually be less than this. We can accept ideas from individuals and organisations but we will want to know what makes you want to have your activity and what makes you think other people will want to take part. We may ask you to come to an interview to talk about your application. It is normally a condition of accepting a grant that you are willing to offer up to 2 hours of support or mentoring to a future applicant. You will also need to ensure that you send us feedback using our monitoring form, at the middle and end of your project.

Where will your project/activities take place?

Who isyour activity/project for? (for example, give ages of children or details of specific communities targeted eg this project is for Somali men over 60 or for families with children under 10)

When will the activity take place and for how long? (eg we want to run a 12 week course starting in September)

Have you run this or a similar activity before? Could you give a few details about your experience?

Why do you want to do this activity? (This is a question about what makes you excited about your idea, what you think participants will get out of it and any thoughts you have on longer term impacts of the activity)

Are you aware of any similar activities in the Big local area? If yes, what is different about this ?

How will you make sure that the people your activity is for will find out about it?

Will you need to pay someone to run your activity (for example an instructor)? If yes, please give details of who, their skills/qualifications and how much they will be paid. (Please note we cannot fund applications made by individuals who expect to pay themselves)

Please give a budget for your activity. We would like to see separate costs for items such as hire of hall; transport; instructor costs; costs of materials or equipment. We have put an example in the box below. You can attach your budget or write it on the back of this form.

Example:

  • Hall hire (6 weeks for 2 hours/week @ £10/hour)£120
  • Art materials (£20/session x 6 sessions)£120
  • Volunteer training (one day for 5 people)£100
  • Transport (minibus hire for 3 days @ £20/day)£60
  • Entrance fees to exhibition (group rate for 15 people)£15

Total£415

Do you expect participants to pay towards the costs? If yes, please say how much you think they will pay and how many people do you expect to be paying?

Do you already have or are you looking for funding for this project from anywhere else? If so, please give details. This can include your own fundraising (eg cake sales). If your project will cost more than £1000, you must answer this question. Please say whether you already have these funds.

Please indicate up to 6 key milestones of your project in the below box – these will help us to understand what you expect to achieve and by when. We will also ask you to report back on these objectives at your mid-point review and at the end of your project.

Is there anything else you think it would be helpful for us to know to help us make a decision about this application?

Is there any training or support which would be helpful to you in making this activity happen?

We are keen to help others in the community learn from your experience. We may ask successful applicants to this fund to offer 2 hours of mentoring or support to a future applicant. Is there anything which might make it difficult for you to do this?
