Prior to turning on the Windows Computer, your STR (School Tech Rep) should have prepared the device for testing, and placed them in your testing area. Verify this with your STR or School Assessment Lead (SAL) if you have a concern.
/ 1. Turn the computer on.
2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to log on.
/ 3. Click “Other User”
/ 4. In the username and password fields enter:
Username: schools\testing
Password: testing (must be lower-case)
5. Click Arrow
/ 6. The computer will login and the desktop will open.
7. Two Firefox windows will open. One for CMAS and one for PARCC. You must use the correct one. Close the one that does not apply.
CMAS = co.testnav.com
PARCC = parcc.testnav.com
/ 8. The device is brought to the sign in screen.
9. The device is ready for the student to log in.
Sound Adjustments
If sound accommodations are required the sound volume must be verified prior to log in.
/
/ 1. Testing Sound Volume:
a. Plug in headset.
b. “Click To Test Audio” (at login screen)
c. Adjust sound (from task bar at bottom right)
Java – Run Application
/ 1. If, when logging in, a student gets the “Do you want to run this application?” message:
a. Check the “Do not show . . .” box.
b. Click “Run”.
Java – Activate Plug-in
/ For some other Java messages, you may have to activate the Java plug in:
1. Open Add-ons menu.
a. Go to Firefox pull-down in upper left corner.
b. Go to “Add-ons”.
/ 2. Go to the “Plugins” section.
/ 3. Verify these settings for Java (adjust if needed):
· Java Deployment Toolkit = Ask to Active
· Java (TM) Platform SE 7 U51 = Always Activate
Pop-Ups Blocked
/ 1. If the student’s test does not run because the browser prevents a pop-up, an orange box appears.
/ 2. Open the Options menu.
a. Go to Firefox pull-down in upper left corner.
b. Go to “Options”.
c. Go to “Options”.
/ 3. In the Options menu, select Content from top bar.
4. Uncheck box for ‘Block pop-up windows.
