AESOP TIPS FOR SUBSTITUTES

AESOP is an automated system that allows teachers to enter their absences and secure substitute teachers. Substitutes can search for available assignments any time they wish, either by calling a toll-free number or by logging onto the web. AESOP will also call substitutes during the morning call out times of 5:00 a.m. noon and evening call out times of 5:00 -10:30 p.m..

When AESOP calls you, besure to say a loud “HELLO” after answering the call to activate the system and play the job offer. If the system doesn’t hear that you answered, it will hang up and call the next available substitute.

TIP: For help and training, click the HELP tab from your homepage on AESOP. This will take you to “The Learning Center” where you can access two short training videos as well as other printable training material.

TIP: AESOP does not call often, and you will not want to rely on a phone call to obtain substitute assignments. Substitutes who are proactive in searching for assignments & those placed on school or teacher preference lists will generally get assignments more often.

TIP: AESOP tracks which substitutes accept assignments, those which frequently turn down assignments and those who do not answer its phone calls. Those substitutes who accept assignments are moved up in the call list and receive calls more often.

TIP: If you do not wish to be called during the designated call out hours or want to change the hours AESOP contacts you, you must log into your AESOP profile and change your “Tell AESOP When to Call” feature. Doing this helps AESOP know to move to the next available substitute and keeps from penalizing you from not answer or accepting an assignment.

TIP: If you must cancel an assignment you had previously accepted, if the assignment is in the future, log-on to AESOP and cancel yourself out of the assignment as soon as possible. Note: You will not be able to cancel yourself out of the assignment if it is on the day of the assignment. You must contact the school and the Substitute Desk for assistance.

TIP: Set up your Preferred Schools to receive calls and see assignments for those selected schools. From your homepage, select “Preferences” then click on “Schools”.
