Registration
Registration for sports is done online through the myMCPS portal. PARENTS must be able to access the myMCPS portal. If parents don’t have access, contact AD Dan Feher at or 240-740-3737.
A doctor’s physical exam is required for sports. They are valid for 1 year, and should be submitted to the Athletic Director in E-107.
Tryout Schedule
Tryouts will be held the first day of practice. Tryouts will give the coach a better understanding of the level of each gymnast.
Varsity Team Criteria
A gymnast should be able to adequately and safely perform the required skills on 2 of the 4 events:
Vault: Handspring
Bars: kip, squat on, flyaway dismount
Beam: Cartwheel, handstand, dismount
Floor: Round-off-, back handspring, Front-handspring
If a gymnast cannot perform these skills, they should talk to the coach beforehand so adjustments and/or modifications can be made.
Practice Times and Location
Varsity will practice Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m in the main gym. First day of practice is Tuesday, March 6th.
Grades
Grade reports will be distributed to the coach every 2-3 weeks. If any student has a D or E in a class they are issued a follow-up sheet and they must make up the work and/or talk with the teacher to make a plan to get their grade up within a week. If students do not complete this form within a week they will not be allowed to practice or compete. Students are allowed to attend practice and catch up on homework, if needed. Remember you are student-athletes, student being listed first. SCHOOL IS THE PRIORITY!

Fundraising
We, as a team, are required to hold fundraisers to raise money for the athletic program. After we raise a certain amount, we get to keep the rest of the funds. If you have any fundraising ideas, please let me know.
TeamSnap
To keep in touch throughout the season we will be using the app, TeamSnap. Any important announcements such as delays, cancelations, and/or last minute practices will be posted on there. Please check TeamSnap daily for updates.
Booster Club
There is a membership sign up form at the end of this packet. If every family signs up, we'll have a pizza party. Who doesn't love pizza.
Managers
If you know someone who would be interested in earning SSL hours, have them contact me about becoming a manager.
Program Philosophy and Goals
