3 x Peer Youth Workers.£7.00 per hour, 4 hrs per week each

Posts will run from May 2015 to the end of November 2015

The role of Peer Youth Worker is a most exciting one, giving the opportunity to help develop new youth programmes in Crumpsall and Cheetham and develop new skills to enhanceyour career prospects.

Most importantly, we are not looking for any particular qualifications. The most important quality needed is the ability to engage other young people from your community. We are therefore looking for three young people who have good links with young people in Crumpsall and Cheetham to help move this project forward.

Job Title:Peer Youth Worker

Salary:£7.00 an hour for 4 hours per week. You will be employed on a fixed term contract to end of November 2015.

Management:The Peer Youth Workers will be supported, andresponsible to, the Rainbow Surprise Sessional Worker.

Main Purpose of the job:

To support the development of provision for young people (14-18 yrs) in Crumpsall & Cheetham, giving them a chance to learn new skills; have their voices heard; and participate in regular youth workshops.

Main Duties:

  1. Help develop and run weekly youth workshops for 14 to 18 year olds, working with the Sessional Worker and Adult Volunteers.
  2. To publicise and promote the opportunity for young people to get involved in the workshopsand actively encourage young people to participate through producing a leaflet, engaging peer groups who congregate in schools or on the street and usingfacebook and other social media to generate interest.
  3. Help create a YouTube promotional video for the weekly youth workshops.
  4. Prior to the new youth programme being finalised, organise a consultation event for all 14 to 18 year olds in the area to make sure that they know about the project, get to share their ideas and understand what they can get out of it.
  5. To participate in training and attend meetings when required.
  6. To keep and share recordings of work.
  7. To support the carrying out of young people’s evaluations.
