Revision
LP1/1
- Understand that the equation of a circle, centre (0,0), radius r is x2 + y2 = r2
- Understand that (x – a)2 + (y – b)2 = r2 is the equation of a circle with centre (a,b) and radius r
LP1/2
- Index laws including fraction and negative indices
- Know that the gradient function dy/dx gives the gradient of the curve and measures the rate of change of y with respect to x
- Know that the gradient of a function is the gradient of the tangent at that point
- Differentiation of kxn where n is a positive integer or 0, and the sum of such functions
LP1/3
- The equation of a tangent and normal at any point on a curve
- Use of differentiation to find stationary points on a curve: maxima, minima and points of inflection
- Sketch a curve with known stationary points
LP1/4
ASSESSMENT WEEK
- Algebraic proof (Prove (n + 5)2 – (n + 3)2 is divisible by 4 for any integer value of n)
LP1/5
- Sketch and use graphs of y = sin x, y = cos x and y = tan x for 0° x 360°
- Be able to use the definitions sin , cos and tan for any positive angle up to 360° (measured in degrees only)
- Knowledge and use of 30°, 60°, 90° triangles and 45°, 45°, 90° triangles
- Use of tan x = sinx/cos x and sin2x + cos2x = 1
- Solution of simple trigonometric equations in given intervals
