1st Battle of the Bands 2015 at Hooley’s Zhongshan

Rules and Regulations

Saturday November 14th (Winner will go through to the Guangzhou final on Saturday Nov 28 th)

CASH PRIZES:

1st place – 5,000RMB in Cash!

2ndplace – 3,000RMB,

3rd place – 2,000 RMB

RULES:

1.  Bands must have minimum of 2ppl.

2.  Bands must show up, ON TIME, for their scheduled start times for the final round (if applicable). Failure to show up within 20 mins of scheduled start time results in cancellation.

3.  Band member may not appear in more than two bands as a lead singer and no more than 2 bands as an instrumental member.

4.  ROUND 1: Each band gets 15 mins to perform. They can perform as few or as many songs in that timeframe as they wish. Top 4 bands advance to Round 2.

5.  ROUND 2: Each band gets 2 songs (max 10 minutes). Top 2 bands advance to Round 3 (final).

6.  FINAL ROUND: Each band gets 3 songs and winner is chosen by judges majority decision.

Bands going over these time limits will be deducted points by the judges.

7.  Bands will be given a start time and must start playing within 15mins of that time. If the schedule is running late the bands will be given 15mins to begin their set from the moment they take the stage. Failure to start within 10mins bands will be deducted points by the judges.

8.  Bands will also be permitted to sell or promote their merchandise at Hooleys before or after their performance.

Judges/Voting: Points will be awarded based upon the following:

1) Music (This criteria is based on clarity, lyrical content and overall musical performance) 1-20

2) Stage Presence and Crowd Interaction (This Criteria is based on how well the band "rocks out"and how well the band connects with the crowd) 1-5

3) Appearance and Personality (This criterion is based on the overall look and personality. If youwant to be a rock star, you need to look the part!)1-5

4) Original Material (For the original song prize, this criterion judges the most important part of your act, your originalmaterial! Bands want to show originality in both their lyrical and instrumental performance toimpress the judges) 1-10
