4.2Program Requirements
The course of study focuseson the following theoretical and practical subjects in five major areas: language teaching methodology; applied linguistics; culture and intercultural studies; foreign/second language acquisition and learning, multimedia/e-learning. In this areas, students acquire theoretical knowledge, learn to develop and apply empirical research methods in the field, and acquire experiences in teaching, course planning and development of learning material (traditional and webbased).
On account of the international orientation of the Masters degree in German as a Foreign Language, particularemphasis is placed on the intercultural exchange and experience. Thecurriculum therefore includes a reflected foreign language experience and a period of career-oriented practical training.
The program is concluded with a master thesis and a final oral examination.
