Master’s Degree: Communications, Institute of Social Sciences, İstanbul University with the dissertation named "News Agencies in Turkey", 1984.

M.A. certificate, "British Cultural Studies", Warwick University (British Council, Istanbul) 1995.

Research and Teaching Assistant: University of Marmara, 1984.

Ph.D.: Communications, Institute of Social Sciences, İstanbul University, with the doctorate thesis named "Social Change and Television: A Comparative Survey on Television Viewing and Non-viewing villages in Turkey". 1988.

Work and Teaching Experience:

Research and teaching since 1984 at the University of Marmara, Faculty of Communications. Vice Dean between October 1998 - April 2001. Head of Radio-Television-Cinema Department between October 2000-October 2003; Currently Professor of Communications and Chair of Communication Sciences; conducting courses like Introduction to Mass Communications, Sociology of Communications, Mass Communication Theory; Research Projects in Communications; Everyday Images; The Popularization of Cinema; Communications Ethics; New Paradigms in Mass Communications. Erasmus Coordinator for the faculty.

1992-1993, Visiting Training Scholar; University of Kent at Canterbury (United Kingdom/ England), with a British Council scholarship.

1996-1997; Visiting Associate Professor, program coordinator and Acting Dean, Faculty of Communications, International American University, Kyrenia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Conducted and renewed the Communications graduate and postgraduate program. Also taught Fundamentals of Communications; Specialized Workshop; Mass Media and Society; Interpersonal Communications (in English) including other departments like International Business, International Relations, Public Administration, Tourism and Economics.
