Message from the President

RCMC’S DOUBLE WINDFALL
The Rotary Club of Midtown Cubao has two good reasons to celebrate. First, the birth of this Newsletter. Second, the inauguration of our website. We owe them both to the prolific Past President Rollie Romero. The twin achievements will only be as meaningful as we mean them to be. If we don’t, they will be relegated as mere historical footnotes in the existence of our club.
Therefore, we most earnestly encourage you to read and send in your literary contributions for publication in the Newsletter. We invite you to maximize your visits to the website. Make the most out of them. Let these wonderful gifts solidify fraternal ties among members; let them serve as useful windows from us to the outside world and from the outside world to us.
Congratulations and thank you, PP Rollie! (We will remember you at the next finest hour.)
The Club meets every Tuesday 7:30 in the evening at Sangkalan Restaurant, No.7 Scout Albano St., corner Mother Ignacia St., Quezon City.

Words to grow by

“Rotary is the door to friendship. Let us throw it open to every people”
Rotary Founder Paul Harris

The Rotary Club of Midtown Cubao was chartered and officially accepted into Rotary International on January 13, 1986, becoming the 11th club to be organized under the mother club, Rotary Club of Cubao, sharing territorial limits with ten other clubs bounded in the Southeast by Ortigas Avenue, Northeast by Katipunan Road, Northwest by Kamias Road and in the Southwest by EDSA.

In retrospect, the club extension survey was made in May, 1985. On October 9, 1985, DGSR Oscar "Oca" Inocentes pulled out Freddie Mejia from RC Cosmopolitan Cubao and organized its first meeting, assisted by Charter President Tante de Peralta. Freddie Mejia was elected President but as he departed for the United States for an indefinite period, a majority of the members held an election on November 27, 1985, and Manuel "Manny" Anonuevo was elected the new Charter President.

On December 23, 1985, after the payment of the charter fee, through the Fiscal Agent of RI, the application of the club was forwarded to Rotary International which was finally approve and officially accepted onJanuary 13, 1986. On April 30, 1986, the charter presentation of 31 members and induction of officers were held at the Quezon City Sports Club. They were presented to the Rotary World by PP and DGSR Oscar "Oca" Inocentes, who is our Godfather. The Guest of Honor and Speaker and Inducting Officer was DGN Prospero "Pros" Crescini and the Gong and Gavel which was donated by PP Carlos "Carling" Rances was presented by President Eleuterio "Terry" de las Alas of RC Cubao, the Sponsoring club.

During the club's infant year, it held its regular weekly meeting every Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Inocentes Farmhouse, Morning Star Drive, Sanville Subdivision, Quezon City. The regular meetings of the board were held every Wednesday of each month and its Annual Meeting, every second Wednesday of December.

Presently, it meets at Sangkalan Grill Restaurant, Scout Albano St., Diliman, Quezon City every Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 PM unless there is an Intercity meeting, District Affair or other function that the club needs to attend.

The Rotary Club of Midtown Cubao adheres to the tenets of the 4-way test and the Object of Rotary. Its officers and members always do their best in living like a true Rotarian.
