ECCLESIAL ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

Assistant Director, Natural Family Planning Program, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), 3211 4th St., N.E., Washington, D.C. 20017, 1984 – Present.

Responsibilities include:

* Administration of the USCCB’s national diocesan NFP program

* Research on issues critical to program needs such as, human sexuality, fertility/infertility, contraception, natural family planning, marriage and family life

* Consultation provided to diocesan NFP coordinators

* Assistance to the diocesan NFP coordinators on the implementation of the Standards for Diocesan NFP Ministry, a national program to certify diocesan NFP teachers

* Design and development of appropriate educational and programmatic resources for diocesan NFP ministry

* Administration of program budget

* Providing talks and papers on issues concerning human sexuality, marriage, conjugal love, and responsible parenthood, and the methods of NFP

* Liaison to national and international leaders in the NFP community

* Communication on Catholic teaching regarding the subjects of human sexuality, marriage and the methods of Natural Family Planning via television, radio, film, and social media.

Director of Ecumenical Student Group, Pontificia Universita S. Tommaso de' Aquino, Rome, Italy. October 1986-June 1987.

* Designed programs to supplement the theoretical academic approach with the applied experiential.

* Organized and implemented student presentations and discussions.

* Collaborated on worship service for the university during Prayer for Christian Unity Week.

* Invited to participate with Ecumenical Student Group at a private Mass with Pope John Paul II during Prayer for Christian Unity Week.

* Scheduled Ecumenical Guest Speakers for informal luncheons. Experts in the field were invited to discuss their journey in Ecumenism. Among the experts were: Johannes Cardinal Willebrands, Prefect of the Secretariat for Promoting Christian Unity (SPCU); Msgr. John Radanno, Theologian of the SPCU (Baptist/Roman Catholic Dialogue); Rev. Kevin McDonald (Anglican/Roman Catholic Dialogue).

* Programmed experiential field trips to ecumenical sites in Rome such as the Taize Community in Rome, Jewish Ghetto, the Second International Jewish-Catholic Theological Colloquium and met with students from the Institute Oecumenique Bossey, World Council of Churches (WCC).

Director, Oikoumene, a community of graduate students and faculty of the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) in Berkeley, CA. September 1985-May 1986.

* Coordinated academic forums on various topics in Ecumenism.

* Supervised sub-committees of a staff of 15 members.

* Directed interdenominational worship services.

* Participated in the planning of the Conference in the areas of fund-raising, advertising, and programming.

* Established at the WCC general meeting at Vancouver in 1983, this national ecumenical group of theological students committed themselves to providing the necessary formation of future church leaders in the ecumenical movement. The areas of formation are prayer, theological study, and experiential events.

* Participated in the planning of the January 1985 National Conference at Theological College in Washington, D.C.

* Responsible for promoting the goals of the group in the Bay Area of Northern California.
