Number Top It

Materials: Card decks

Objective: Compare numbers 0-20

  1. Shuffle the cards and put them face down.
  2. Each student draws a card from the top of the deck and says that number.
  3. The person with the greater number takes all of the cards.
  4. In case of a tie, players play a second round and whoever wins that round gets all of the cards.
  5. The game is over when all of the cards are gone.
  6. The player with the most cards win.

Domino Top-It

Materials: Dominoes

Objective: Compare numbers 0-20

  1. Mix up the dominoes and put them face down in two piles.
  2. Each student takes the domino from the top of their pile and says that number.
  3. The person with the greater number takes both dominoes.
  4. In case of a tie, players play a second round and whoever wins that round gets all of the dominoes.
  5. The game is over when all of the dominoes are gone.
  6. The player with the most dominoes win.

Digit Game

Materials: Number Card Deck (0-9; 2 of each)

Objective: Practice comparing numbers greater than 10.

  1. Shuffle the deck and place it with the numbers facedown between the players.
  2. Each player draws 2 cards from the deck and uses them to make the largest number possible. They place their marker on the 100 board.
  3. The player who makes the larger number takes all of the cards.
  4. The game is over when all of the cards have been used.
  5. The player with more cards wins.

Operation Top It

Materials: Number Card Deck (0-9; 4 of each)

Objective: Practice adding, subtracting or multiplying numbers

  1. Shuffle the deck and place it with the numbers facedown between the players.
  2. Each player draws 2 cards from the deck and either adds, subtracts or multiplies them together.
  3. The player with the greatest sum, difference or product takes both cards. They go into a “keep” pile.
  4. The game is over when all of the cards have been used.
  5. The player with more cards wins.

**Note: If you want students to practice facts, this is not a racing game… it is the greatest answer that counts, not the fastest person to respond.**

Have 100 boards available for all students.
