Position Description
Title:Facilities Manager
Qualifications:Requires one year of experience in custodial/maintenance supervision; knowledge of and the ability to use safely cleaning materials/chemicals, includinginterpretation and application of written instructionson labels; ability to use hand tools and other related custodial equipment; knowledge of the requirements for maintaining school buildings in safe, healthy, clean and orderly conditions; positive attitude, flexibility and the willingness to learn new skills and tasks; perform heavy physical labor and lifting up to 50 pounds; the ability to follow directions; accept responsibility and supervision; to work alone unsupervised as well as work with other staff, students and the public.
Reports to:Superintendent/Designee
Job Goal:To oversee and perform the custodial repairs and cleaning work in the buildings as required by the administration, in order to provide a clean and safe environment for students, staff and patrons.
Performance Responsibilities:
The Lead Custodian shall:
- Oversee scheduling of other custodians, substitutes, and contractors as required.
- Work collaboratively with the business office coordinating supply orders and contractor work, request for proposals and state/federally required reporting.
- Provide recommendations for ongoing maintenance goals
- Provide recommendations for ongoing state/federal mandated facility reports, such as Asbestos/Drinking Water/Pesticides etc.
- Willingness to continue education by attending required workshops/conferences/trainings.
- Requisition district-wide needed custodial supplies and equipment.
- Oversee safety inspection reports for all buildings and campus, as well as coordinating monthly and annual safety drills; then participating in a Safety Committee meeting making recommendations to the Superintendent/Principal/Designee.
Regular Daily Duties shall include the following:
- Open buildings daily confirming HVAC systems and buildings are ready for staff/students.
- Coordinate Parking Lot Supervision
- Set up rooms/area for special events.
- Clean walls, furniture, floors and other areas.
- Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, water fountains, showers and restrooms.
- Empty the garbage and trash from all rooms.
- Maintain custodial and storage areas in an orderly and safe manner.
- Perform laundry work as required (towels, uniforms, etc.).
- Operate cleaning equipment and heating system(s).
- Secure doors and windows to all rooms and building as appropriate.
- Report all safety concerns to the Superintendent/Principal/ Designee immediately.
- Perform minor repairs as needed: painting, changing lights, tightening bolts, adjusting door closers, etc.
- Participate in summer cleaning and maintenance work.
- Complete other/special tasks assigned by the administration.
- Maintain confidentiality of information observed that should be confidential (student records, etc.).
- Follow and enforce all school and District policies and procedures as well as all state and federal laws/regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- In a seven to eight hour day an employee may stand/walk 6-8 hours;
- Employee may use hands for repetitive: single grasping, pushing and pulling, fine manipulation;
- Employee may use feet for repetitive movement as in operating foot controls;
- Significant lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling;
- The job is performed under some temperature extremes and hazardous conditions.
Terms of Employment:
This position is twelve months/year with a 100 calendar days probationary period. Hours vary according to building and shift (generally it will be 8 hours per day). Salary and work year based according to current schedule. This position will be evaluated according to the School Board’s policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
