To practice close reading and annotation strategies
To develop SAT vocabulary through composing sentences
To practice exercise s with end of preparing for the SAT
To analyze short stories with the end of increasing comprehension of literary elements
To produce essays based on individual and group analysis
To parallel poetry with short stories when appropriate
