NEWS FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,
The third quarter has arrived rapidly and we continue to diligently prepare all students to be ready for end-of-year assessments. Midterm progress reports were sent home on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Please review your child’s progress report carefully and contact his or her teacher with questions or concerns. The earlier we respond to any concerns, the faster concerns can be addressed and resolved.
Our fifth graders will be taking their annual trip to Washington, D.C. from Thursday, March 8 – Saturday, March 10, 2011. This is a trip that even students in the lower grades are looking forward to take part in. Over the last four years, our fifth graders have had successful trips to D.C., kept a log and shared this wonderful educational and fun experience with others. We ask that you keep our students, parents and staff in your thoughts and prayers for safe travel and visit to the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
A change has been made in our morning breakfast procedures. Students in grades K – 2 will have their bag breakfast in the cafeteria and not in their classrooms. Students in grades 3 – 5 will continue to pick up their bag breakfast and eat in their classrooms. Breakfast will cease for all car riders at 8:15 AM. Bus riders will receive breakfast upon arrival of the buses. This procedure was put into place to lessen the unnecessary amount of time that students are spending eating. Instructional time will begin immediately at the end of our daily CPES News. All students must have eaten their breakfast by 8:30 AM.
The Spring Book Fair will begin on Monday, March 12 – Friday, March 16, 2012. This is an activity that all of our students look forward to in the fall and spring. Various learning materials and items will be for sale and parents are able to come with their children at designated times to buy items. The funds raised from our Book Fairs have been used effectively for all of our students. Two smart boards are in the process of being installed with the funds that have been raised from the Scholastic Book Fair. One is being installed in our media center and the other in our computer lab. These are two areas of the build that serve all of our students and will be greatly used. Thank you to our PTA for organizing this great fall and spring event.

Mr. Mark S. Anderson, Principal

Mrs. Martin, School Nurse
The Norovirus seems to be waning….we hope! Keep up the hand washing at home, and we are doing so here at school, and getting plenty of rest every night! It may have run its course, and only a few stragglers are still showing up in school. Keep up the good work! Remember: FEVER- stay home for 24 hrs. FEVER-FREE WITHOUT MEDICATION! That helps to prevent further spread.
The health room is in need of sweatpants, boys and girls, all sizes. If you can, check through your supplies, shop in thrift shops, and donate!
We have kicked off the “Grief Group” and will continue with it for 6 weeks. The response was incredible, and we are trying our best to deal with the huge number of children that need help dealing with loss or grief. Please return questions and permission to be pulled from CAT classes ASAP. We will allow the first session without them, but after that, your child will be excluded if they are not returned. Thank you for your cooperation!
