THIS IS YOUR FINAL EXAM;

IT IS A GROUP GRADE AND ALL MEMBERS MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE A GRADE

“42”

The title of this project is simply “42”. It is more than just a number. It is the uniform number of a man who took part in what was called “The Great Experiment”; it was the number given to a man who had the courage to stand up not only for himself, but for an entire race of people. He was a human being who helped spark a movement that carries on to this very day. Sadly, racism still exists. We honor Jackie Robinson and all who have made this country and for that matter, this world, less racist: Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., Coretta Scott King, Desmond Tutu, Dolores Huerta, Gloria Steinen, Cesar Chavez and countless others.

The Project:

After watching the movie “42”, research 5 minute segments that address discrimination. Do not limit the research to just race: consider discrimination in all of its forms. Think about religious intolerance, or people who deal with emotional or physical challenges…any form of discrimination that exists. The research should lead to an engaging classroom discussion. Find an article, a short video clip, and excerpt from a book you have read either in school or on your own.
