How to Search in AiM

  1. From the Menu channel, select a module
  2. From the Module Menu channel, select a screen
  3. Click search
  4. Entercriteria
  5. Click Executeto process your search

1 / Execute: Once all search criteria has been entered, clicking Execute will display the search results.
2 / Display Order: Usethisfield to enter values to control the display order, from left to right, of the columns shown in the search results. For instance, entering a “1” will place that field in the 1st column (on the left) of the result.
3 / Sort: This defines the order in which your data is displayed. Asc will display the results alphabetically in ascending order. Dsc will display them in descending order.
4 / Operator: This is used to filter the results of your data. Refer to Common Search Operators.
5 / Magnifying Glass: A magnifying glass symbol has two functions.
(1) By clicking on the symbol it “produces a list” allowing the user to select one item.
(2) User can type in the data, then click on the symbol to confirm that the item entered exists.

Common Search Operators

Operator / Definition
= / Equal to: Returns only data that is an exact match to what was entered.
Greater than: Returns numeric data higher than # entered.
Less than: Returns numeric data lower than # entered.
>= / Greater than or equal to: Returns numeric data higher or exact match to # entered.
<= / Less than or equal to, Returns numeric data lower or exact match to # entered.
Not equal to: Excludes data entered.
starts with / Begins with number or text entered.
end with / Ends with number or text entered.
contains / Field has number or text entered: search is based on characters entered.
null / Field is null refers to that field being empty (i.e. has no data).
not null / Field is populated (i.e. contains data and is not empty).
in / Field matches multiple data entered (used to retrieve more than one item).
not in / Field does not match multiple data entered (used to exclude specific items).
between / Will return data between dates entered.
within / Will return data based on date field specific to search.
last / Last is an option for a “date” field upon selection, the calendar icon is replaced with a list of options (Year, Month, Week, Day, Hour). The system will search based on the number of years, months, weeks, days or hours entered.
next / Next is an option for a “date” fields, Upon selection the calendar icon is replaced with a list of options (Year, Month, Week, Day, Hour). The system will search based on the number of years, months, weeks, days or hours entered.
newer than / Newer than is an option for a “date” fields, Upon selection, the calendar icon is replaced with a list of options (Year, Month, Week, Day, Hour). The system will return the data that is newer than the date entered based on the option selected.
older than / Older than is an option for a “date” field, Upon selection the calendar icon is replaced with a list of options (Year, Month, Week, Day, Hour). The system will return the data that is older than the date entered based on the option selected.
