Dear Applicant:

Congratulations on your decision to apply for engineering program start-up funding. The Department of Education, Bureau of Career Development, in conjunction with the Pre-Engineering Technology Advisory Council, will work with you to develop the necessary foundation for a successful program benefitting the students of your district and/or region.

The Engineering Program state funding is limited to start-up costs, including required equipment and materials. These funds cannot support construction of a facility, supplies for the operation of the program, or teacher salaries and benefits. Any additional questions regarding cost eligibility from this state appropriation should be directed to:

Eric Feldborg ()

Each application will be reviewed by the Bureau of Career Development for completeness. The applicant will be notified of any missing or unclear items within their submission and will be given the opportunity to include further documentation. Complete applications will be placed on an upcoming Pre-Engineering Technology Advisory Council (PETAC) meeting agenda for their action. Six PETAC meetings are held each year; thus failure to be recommended for funding at the initial presentation will result in approximately a two-month delay in the process.

Allocations for those applications recommended for funding by PETAC will then be entered into the Department of Education’s Grants Management System (GMS). GMS is the electronic software through which all Department grants are issued. The applicant will be required to complete this electronic submission prior to expending any funds. Technical questions regarding the electronic application submission should be directed to:

Carrie Gorman
