The proposed goat use will meet all of the following criteria:
_____ Goats numbering only two, with the exception of nursing kids belonging to does on the property,
until weaned or up to twelve (12) weeks maximum age, per lot or contiguous lots under common
ownership.These goats must be pygmy or Nigerian Dwarf goats.
_____ No bucks (intact male goats) shall be allowed.
_____ Goats shall be kept in a secure enclosure, an area surrounded by a fence, a wall or a combination
of both, at all times except when under direct supervision. No “at large” goats shall be allowed.
_____ In residential zones (see back page), the goats must be kept in the rear 50% of the yard.
The enclosure shall be a minimum of three hundred (300) square feet.
_____ Shelters shall be provided at all times and shall be covered and predator-resistant. The shelter shall
be properly ventilated and designed to be easily accessed, cleaned, and maintained. Shelters shall
be located so they meet the minimum setback requirements (15’ from any abutting property line
unless written consent has been provided).
_____ Enclosures & shelters shall be kept in a neat and sanitary condition at all times and must be
cleaned on a regular basis to prevent the attraction of pests and offensive odors.
_____ Pest control shall be required at all times.
_____The goats will be closed in the shelter from dusk to dawn.
_____ The property where goats are kept shall be subject to inspection by Larimer Humane staff
should complaints be received.
_____ No slaughtering of animals shall be allowed on the property or at the direction of the owner.
_____ Goats over 12 weeks of age will be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian.
Approval Period. This initial license is valid for one year. A license renewal must be granted annually. Both license and rabies tags should be worn, by the animal, at all times.
