Terrorism, at present is a worldwide issue of common concern because of its reaction and affect disturbing world peace and security in general. Installing terror among the masses and governments alike, to gain any political, economical or strategic objective has been the central modus operandi for many extremist groups. The birth and rise of ISIL in different Islamic states deteriorated the situation that ultimately requires wide investigation on the dynamics, perspectives and motivations of terrorism in different Islamic cultures.Whether directed by IS leadership, enabled, inspired or even linked erroneously, each recent attack has put the terror group in the headlines. Bangladesh, being a comparatively secular jurisdiction with a Muslim majority, has to fight with forces representing international and domestic terrorist and extremist groups for the last few decades. However it recently has faced a new pattern of religious terrorism through Gulshan Attack on 1 July andSholakia Eid congregation 2016 where a number of misguided young men from highly educated and rich family are involved in hostage and killings of foreigners and nationals in a restaurant in the earlier incident. Certain political analysts warn that there is a vested interest group that wants to prove the presence of ISIS in Bangladesh. Their motivation is to push the ruling party into a vulnerable position by proving the presence of ISIS, which will make way for US intervention. Other view is to hamper the war criminal trial by disturbing the internal peace and democratic functioning of the government. Against this backdrop the new wave of religious terrorism both globally and nationally becomes a very sensitive issue which needs to be addressed with effective counter terrorism strategies.
