Application Form for Student Accommodation 2014/2015
Oak House, 36 Upper Leeson StreetDublin 4, is a mid-terrace Georgian residence divided into apartments for membersof the Girls Friendly Society and young women who are coming to Dublin to study or work. Non member applications will also be considered.
The apartments are mainly two-bedded with self-catering facilities. The Girls Friendly Society’s Central Offices are located in the House and are open Tuesday to Thursday 9.30 – 4.00 pm. A House Supervisor and her assistant also live in the house.
Students are responsible for keeping their accommodation clean and tidy and for the security and safety of their persons and possessions.
Application Procedure:
- Please fill out the application form below and send it to the Administrator, Girls Friendly Society, Oak House, 36 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin 4, with a booking deposit of €50.00 by cheque or postal order, made payable to the Girls Friendly Society. This is required to include your name on the waiting list.
- Please include an email address with your application so we can acknowledge receipt of your application and booking deposit.
- If you are offered and accept a place a months’ rent is payable in advance (i.e €390 less the €50 booking deposit already paid (i.e. €340)
- If however you are offered a place and do not accept it, a fee of €25 will be deducted from your booking deposit to cover administrative costs and the balance will be refunded to you.
- If you are not offered a place your deposit of €50 will be refunded in full.
Please read the points below carefully
- All applications will be held on a waiting list and places will be allocated in August 2014 when the Leaving Cert Results and the 1st Round CAO Offers have been announced.
- However, if a girl wishes to book a space in advance and is a current paid up member of G.F.S. and has her position/course confirmed prior to the 1st Round CAO Offer date, she may do so on payment of the full deposit of €390.00 by the 1st August 2014. This payment is not refundable.
- To ensure you have a good chance of a place in Oak House it will be essential that you confirm to the GFS office by either email or telephone your intention re take up of the accommodation as soon as it is confirmed by the CAO office or following your Leaving Certificate Results. Payment of the full deposit is then required within one week.
- General Payment Terms: 1st October 2014 to 31st May 2015- €390 per month, with one month’s rent paid in advance for deposit, which will be refunded after the 31st May. Payment by Standing Order is due on the 1st of each month October to May inclusive (8 months)
- 1st June to 30th September: The House is rented at a weekly rate in this period at €100per week /€15 per day (payable directly to the office) – this facilitates students starting mid September and finishing in June of the academic year.
- Accommodation is also available to rent during the summer months.
- All facilities/utilities are included in the above prices, i.e. E.S.B., Telephone/Wifi, Clothes washing and drying, TV licence, Gas & Heat, Refuse charges, etc.
