Course Description:

Essex County Council is working with schools and school leaders to create an education system in Essex that has excellence as standard at its core and ensures that every child and young person in Essex goes to a school that is judged to be either Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.
To achieve this outcome the Essex education system needs to be underpinned by passionate, driven and committed leadership at all levels that is relentless in its pursuit of excellence and is continually striving for improvement.
The Heads in Waiting Programme is designed for colleagues who, with the support of their current school, see themselves in headship roles in the next 18 months to 2 years. The programme takes place over a two term period and consists of a two day residential launch event, a London conference, giving the opportunity to explore schools in other authorities, an afternoon/twilight professional development session and face-to-face coaching with the Head of the Virtual Leadership Academy (VLA).
There is also access to the VLA website which includes an online blog from the head of the VLA and other materials to support your development.

Programme Dates:

Residential = 2 consecutive 12th and 13th October 2017
London Schools Conference = 14th November 2017
1:2:1 career interviews = 4th December 2017, 8th January and, if required, 16th January 2018
Twilight workshops = 13:30 pm – 19:30 pm 5th February 2018
Share and Celebration Event = 26th February 2018
