Are you ready, foodie, for your trendy foody-food?

At the very beginning that´s really confusing question, isn´t it? Firstly, we can say that English language, particularly its American version, almost don´t know any boundaries. The way how they create new meanings through derivation[1] is surely outstanding and in some cases Ican say also awkward. During my usual Saturdays´ cleaning, washing etc. I was watching my most favorite TV program FOOD NETWORK. And that magic sentences has appeared! Crazy, right? J By the way, there you can watch and, personally for me, listen to various “Englishes” as real “terminus technicus”. Sometimes I am really shocked when I am listening Indian[2] (or as they call it – Hindu) English. That´s undoubtedly very funny variation of English. But back to the heading! J

Surely, you can say that every single word with the base FOOD is obvious for us. In one sentence you can see so many grammatical phenomena, such as derivation, composition[3], turning from one word class[4] to another.

Ok, shall we continue? So, one word by another.

A FOODIE - BrE/ˈfuːdi/;AmE/ˈfuːdi/ (informal) - a person who is very interested in cooking and eating different kinds of food

A dumbed-down term used by corporate marketing forces to infantilize and increase consumerism in an increasingly simple-minded American magazine reading audience. The addition of the long "e" sound on the end of a common word is used to create the sensation of being part of a group in isolationist urban society.

Check pronunciation:foodie

FOODY – AmE [‘fu:di:] informal American derivated expresion for something really tasty or it can say about aperson who appreciates good cuisine, or just eats to do damn much.

I'm a big foody, I like Italian food, Chinese food, food food...That´s mine!

But in the context or meaning of compositon the foody-food is astylistic device of exaggerating of outstanding food.

So be carefull and keep your ears open, because English can surprise your knowledge and capability in the particular language.

What can I say at the end of this topic? You know, Christmas time is coming to us and we love it not only because of gifts and having a good time with our family, but also because of great meals of our mums and grandmas, so many sweets and loads of other yummies J

So, remember, if you will hear somebody to say some of these words during this most powerful time of the year, so enjoy you, FOODIE, your great foody-food!!!
