Parent LOV Notes

Our Motto: Excellence, Honor and Service

School Mission: To educate and build character in the total child

Retention Letter Notifications: This week we will be mailing home Retention notifications for students that are in danger of failing. Please be sure to look for this letter if your child has failed 2 or more subjects. Report cards came home on Friday, January 9th. Please note that a conference can be held via phone or face to face based on your convenience.

6th GRADE PARENTS ONLY: In preparation for our rising 6th grade parent information night on March 24, we would like to provide answers to common questions middle school parents have. As parents of current middle school students, what are some “words of wisdom” you have for new middle school parents? Was there anything that you wish you would have known to better prepare for middle school life? Was there anything you had heard about middle school that ended up not being accurate or what you expected? Looking back, what might you have done differently as you readied your student (and self) for middle school? Please send your thoughts to 6th Grade School Counselor, Katie Bower at , by Monday March 9. All submissions will be kept confidential.

State School Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council: State School Superintendent-elect Richard Woods is accepting applications for the 2015 Student Advisory Council. Click here for more information. Deadline Friday, January 16, 2015.

No Missing Work: We are all on board promoting the “No missing work” expectation. Teachers will be referring students to administrators if assignments are not attempted. We have a high standard which states that “Zeros are not an option.” Please be sure to check your child’s grades consistently to ensure that he/she is not missing assignments. We want our students to understand the importance and value of the instructional expectations. If you do not have access to grades, please contact Ms. Sacchetta for assistance. Thank you for your support!

Food Drive - 4,800 Items Needed

We are asking each child to assist his/her homeroom in collecting 100 cans or boxes of food by bringing in non-perishable foods or toiletries through January 20th. No expired items please. The homeroom at each grade-level who collects the most items over 100 will receive special recognition. All of the food collected will be donated to the Save It Forward Food Pantries in Cobb County Schools.

Save It Forward Food Pantry Envelope Sponsorship

We have envelopes for Kroger and Publix that we need sponsored. Shop by Tuesday for the Kroger sale and by Wednesday for the Publix sale. Envelopes are located on a table across from the School Counseling Department. Purchase and bring all items to Lovinggood and place them in the bins under the table. Email Ms. Davis at if you would like her to get an envelope to your student to bring home so that you can shop. You may also send in $6 and Ms. Davis will shop for your family. Feel free to double-up on your envelopes. Students who sponsor an envelope will receive a Silver Hawk Card.

Below is this month’s grade level schedule for envelope sponsorship. However, feel free to sponsor an envelope whenever you would like.

Fundraiser Reminders:

·  SteviBs School-wide fundraiser: Hey it’s not too late to sell fundraiser cards! We are going to continue running the fundraiser immediately when we return to school. This fundraiser is separate from the school foundation goals. Our school wide fundraiser will support student and staff recognition (honor roll, HAWK TIME treats, end of the year certificates, medals and other noteworthy recognitions in the building.) So please, encourage sales and send in $10.00 for each card that you wish to sell OR have taken orders for. All students received a fundraiser letter and order form. Details are on the website.

·  Marquee fundraiser: The ongoing fundraiser that will be initiated immediately through the school foundation is the opportunity to purchase an advertisement slot on our marquee! We will allow three slots to be purchased per day. They must be congratulatory or Birthday advertisements. We will sell them for $10.00 each. So yes, if it is your child’s birthday, you can purchase marquee advertisement space for $10.00 for that day. So plan to enjoy and support our school foundation.
