  1. Luncheon Comittee

We discussed the LES/APWA joint luncheon which will be January 17th at the Stadium Club. Josh Graham is handling the caterer, which will change from last year. David Guillory or Jim Ferguson will be speaking. Cory Belden will get with Josh to discuss any details that need to be worked out.

  1. Education Committee

Terry Blades reported on the water seminar which was held on November 2nd. Thirty-eight people attended and there was good discussion. The chapter made about $2500.00. David mentioned to Terry that he would like to have a similar type of seminar regarding streets/traffic in the Spring. Eric Olsen (a consultant) mentioned to someone that he felt that turnout was low. We need to look at the roster and update contact information for everyone next year.

  1. Scholarship Committee

Scholarship information will be sent out in January by the new Scholarship Chair. Cyndi Pennington brought up that we should consider creating a scholarship for DPW employees who want to take a course to benefit their job. Terry said that we would need to set criteria and a letter of recommendation would need to be required. The Florida and Georgia chapters have an employee scholarship program and we could look at their requirements as a guide. We also decided to expand the high school student scholarship pool to include DPW employees.

  1. Christmas Party

Invitations to the Christmas Party are to be mailed this week and will include APWA members, Platinum Golf Tournament Sponsors, recent retirees (Ute’ Cress and Linda Miller), and Jose’ Alverez’s family. We discussed making a donation in memory of Jose’. Terry Blades indicated that we may be able to get a set or two of Sugar Bowl tickets to give as door prizes. We decided to buy one pair. Ben Blades and Laura Brownell will go to purchase the rest of the door prizes soon, including an iPad. Terry wanted to make sure that Elegant Memories used the nice plates for the party. Jarrod Tramonte will handle setting the menu and we decided that the bar will be open for the duration of the party.

  1. Nominations/Elections

Cory will send out an email to the Branch asking for nominations and include information regarding duties and criteria. We will keep the same officer – committee chair setup except switch the Christmas Party to Secretary and Education to Vice President.

  1. Membership

There will be a webinar on November 13th at 2:00pm regarding membership. The Chapter will send the presidents from each branch to Chapter Leader Training. We decided to cover our members and that we let the Chapter use our portion of the stipend to send the Northlake President. We also will consider sending the President-Elect to the training also. Cyndi will chair the new Emergency Management Committee.
