The Northern Rowing Council Autumn Sculling Series Rules

The Sculling Series will comprise the following;

Tyne Long Distance Sculls

Wansbeck Long Distance Sculls

Berwick Long Distance Sculls

Tees Long Distance Sculls

Hylton Long Distance Sculls

Wear Long Distance Sculls

These events are all promoted by the Northern Rowing Council and are held under A.R.A. and additional series rules.

The Series offers all categories in 1x, 2x, 4x; Male, Female or Mixed.

Entries.

All entries will be via OARA with entry fees by post to arrive by the Wednesday preceding the event.

Cheques payable to “The Northern Rowing Council”.

A £3 per seat surcharge will be applied to late entry fees.

Individual Events

In the event of less than 3 entries in a category, entries will be automatically moved to compete in a higher or lower age/status group as appropriate. Competitors who do not wish to be moved must state this with their entry.

All events are in Fine boats. Competitors may race in Tracer or Restricted Boats if they so wish, but there will be no separate categories for this class of boat. Competitors are to provide all their own racing equipment.

All competitors must report individually to the Race Secretary 45 minutes before their published boating time.

Competitors who do not report will be disqualified.

Race numbers will be issued; one number per boat.

A £2.00 deposit is required for each number, refundable upon return.

All boats must have a bow-mounted slot to display the Race Number provided.

Prizes will be awarded to the fastest crew in each boat type and to the fastest crew in categories with three or more entries, but a prize will not be awarded to two crews from the same category.

The Series

After winning two races in a particular status/age group, successful competitors will be automatically moved to the next highest status/age group. Competitors will not be moved more than one age group until they have won 4 races in a particular group.

Junior competitors will only be moved one category during the series.

Overall series prizes will be awarded as follows; where at least three crews have competed in at least 4 rounds.

To be eligible for a series award crew must compete in at least four rounds, best four rounds to count.

The composition of a crew may not change during the series.

A simple points system will apply based on overall finishing position in each round. One point for first, two points for second etc; lowest number of points wins. In the event of a tie the result of the last round will decide.
