CAPTAIN’S MEETING: / Wednesday, May 11th 8pm at SWRC 120 (Arena), located between SW Basketball Courts 2 & 3
REGISTRATION DATES: / Primary Registration: Thursday, May 12th, 2011 – 8:00am – 5:00pm
Secondary Registration: Friday, May 13th, 2011 – 9:00am – 5:00pm
Start of Regular Season: Monday, May 16th, 2011
LEAGUES OFFERED: / Co-Rec
REGULAR SEASON: / Regular season begins on Monday, May 16th and will consist of 3 games over 3 weeks.
GAME SITES: / All games will be played at the Southwest Softball Complex located behind the Southwest Recreation Center.
GAME: / Each game will last 7 innings or 50 minutes. The clock will run continuously. If the home team is losing at the time the clock expires, the remainder of the inning will be played.
MERCY RULE: / Game will be ended if a team is winning by 12 runs after the completion of the 4th inning. If the home team is leading by 12 runs, then the game will end in the bottom of the 4th inning.
OVERTIME: / There will be no extra innings during the regular season which means that games can end in a tie. In the playoffs, extra innings will be played until a winner is determined.
TIMEOUTS: / There are no timeouts in Intramural Softball.
FORFEITS: / GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME. Minimum of 8 players needed to start; if 7 players are legally signed in at the scheduled game time a 7-minute grace period will be given for the 8th to arrive. In Co-Rec, minimum of 8 players (4M/4F) is required to start the game. In order for the 7 minute grace period to occur 3M/4F or 4M/3F will need to be legally signed in.
EQUIPMENT: / Braces with an approved covering are allowed. No metal spikes/cleats are allowed. No jewelry may be worn. Gloves and bats are available for checkout in the SWRC and are available on a first come basis.
PLAYOFFS: / Only teams earning a .500 or better record and 4.0 sportsmanship average or higher will be eligible for playoffs. Teams will not be able to petition into playoffs during the summer.
PLAYOFF SCHEDULES: / A playoff captain’s meeting will be held following the regular season finale. Date of this meeting will be posted on the Intramural Sports Web site.
CHAMPIONSHIPS: / Intramural Sports Championship T-shirts will be awarded to the winning team. There will be a maximum of 15 shirts per team.

·  Verify that your bat is legal prior to using it in a game.
·  The batter’s count starts at 1-1.
·  A foul ball will count as Strike 3.
·  Only players in the batting lineup are eligible to play in the field.
CO-REC RULES REVIEW: / ·  Teams are only allowed to play with the following combinations: 4M/4W, 4M/5W, 5M/4W, 5M/5W. The 6th player of each gender may play as an Extra Hitter.
·  Acceptable gender combinations as fielders are 5M/5F, 4M/5F, 5M/4F, 4M/4F
·  The batting line up must alternate gender
·  When a female is up to bat, all outfielders must be behind the 200 ft line and a maximum of 6 infielders must be on the clay until she makes contact with the ball.
·  If a male is walked and a female is next in the lineup, the male will take second base and the female shall have the option of taking 1st base or hitting.
REGISTRATION PROCESS / 1. Register for the “Intramural Sports: Captain’s Training” course on SAKAI.
a. Log into Sakai at https://lss.at.ufl.edu/
b. Choose the My Workspace site
c. Choose the Membership tool (located on the left)
d. Choose Joinable Sites
e. Use the search box, or navigate to the target site.
f. Click "Join"
g. You should now be a participant of the site. You can access the site by choosing it from your site listings located on the top horizontal bar. (same place where "My Workspace" can be chosen)
2. Complete the “Captain’s Meeting Quiz” by visiting the Tests & Quizzes Tab on SAKAI.
a. You must obtain an 80% or higher on this portion of the training to be eligible to register. An unlimited number of attempts are allowed.
3. Complete the "Softball Rules Quiz" by visiting the Tests & Quizzes Tab on SAKAI.

4. View your completed test scores by visiting the Gradebook Tab on the left hand side of the course's homepage. Your scores will automatically be sent to the Intramural Sports Administration Staff.
5. Complete the team roster form located on the Intramural Sports Web site and/or SAKAI. Please do not gather any signatures or dates on this form.
6. Bring your own, valid Gator 1 ID Card and completed team roster form to primary registration on May 12, 2011 – 8:00am – 5:00pm or secondary registration on May 13, 2011 – 9:00am – 5:00pm.
