ELED 3271; Social Studies Methods / 10 hours / Observe the teaching of social studies and teach at least one social studies lesson.
ELED 4240; Literacy in Grades K-4 / 14 hours / Teach several reading lessons to small groups and whole classes.
ELED 4241; Literacy in Grades 5-8 / 14 hours / Teach specific reading lessons to small groups and whole classes.
ICL 4001; Learning in the Urban Environment / 5 hours / Directed observation of classroom settings. Conduct parent interview for COEAS / ACEI / NCATE.
ICL 4020; Language and Communication / 5 hours / Candidates view and discuss videos of teachers working with students having specific needs on language and communication skills.
IDT 3600; Technology in Education / 5 hours / Assist teachers with classroom based learning
SPED 2000; Issues of Human Diversity / 5 hours / Work with an individual with disabilities outside of a school setting.
SPED 3800; Literacy Methods / 10 hours / Candidates practice teaching literacy skills with students having specific needs.
SPED 3802; Assessment / 8 hours / Candidates have a virtual field experience watching test administration videos.
SPED 3803; Management / 8 hours / Behavior management plan created for a specific student.
Residency I and II (Both Semesters of Senior Year)
Residency I / 15 weeks (2 days per week) 30 days or 240 hours / Candidates spend Mondays and Tuesdays during their first semester of their senior year in local school classrooms performing meaningful teacher-related tasks (e.g., tutoring, teaching, observing).
Residency II
ICL 4901 & 4904; Student teaching in grades K-3 and 4-6, respectively / 15 full weeks,75 full days (600 hours) / Student teachingcandidates return to the Residency I classroom and mentor teacher during the second semester of their senior year (Residency II) for 10 weeks of student teaching then visit an alternate classroom in the school for the remaining 5 weeks.
