Reverse Raffle and Auction

Information

What is the FHAA Reverse Raffle and Auction?

The FHAA Reverse Raffle / Auction is our largest fundraiser and is held in annually in January. Last year’s raffle has paid for this year’s expenses and we need all of you to continue the tradition of excellence in our swim program.

The “Auction” is a short evening of food, fun and fellowship with a reverse raffle and a silent and oral auction. A reverse raffle is where the holder of the ticket for the last number drawn will win the grand prize. We only sell 130 tickets, so sell them early.

Members of FHAA are required to sell at least 2 tickets to the raffle. Families are highly encouraged to bring friends, neighbors and coworkers for a great night out regardless of the weather. Bringing friends also brings in opportunities for others to support our swimmers and divers.

Each year an exciting theme is chosen to decorate the banquet hall. Dress for the evening is to the theme if you like or casual. All members are encouraged to help the Auction committee in any way they can to give the committee members a chance to also enjoy the evening. This is the case of “many hands make light work.” Volunteer early to get your favorite time slot and duty.

Tickets:

Each ticket sold by members includes, dinner, dessert, open bar and a chance at $1500. An additional dinner ticket can be purchased for spouses, dates, etc. Dinner tickets cannot be purchased alone. The event is held from 6:30pm to approximately 11:00pm with exciting things happening every minute. Arriving early is suggested to get a great table and view the items up for auction before the crowd arrives.

Auction Items/Solicitations:

Each family is required to contribute to the Silent and Oral Auction. Auction items are often quite creative, involving handcrafts, offers for free services, and interesting unique items. Having a wide variety of items available makes for a successful fundraiser as many of our guests want to support the swimmers. We have found employers and local businesses very receptive to donating to a championship team, and donations are tax deductible! Use the “Donor Form” provided and copy one for them if they would like one as a reminder.

Provided in your packet is a solicitation letter, to be sent or given to businesses of your choice. A form for tax purposes should be given to each donor. Remind them of the free advertising in our event and following year program.

Each class is required to contribute or create an auction basket or item. A parent volunteer will ask the class to contribute either cash of $10-$15 or a donation matching the theme chosen.

Thank you for your enthusiastic support of our Auction and the Swimming and Diving Teams!
