COURSE OUTLINE:

The course introduces students to the use of simple and complex graphics tools used to communicate and understand ideas and concepts found in the areas of architecture, manufacturing, engineering, science, and mathematics. Topics include problem –solving strategies, classical representation methods such as sketching, and geometric construction techniques as well as CAD (computer assisted drawing) orthographic projection (multi-view drawing), and oblique and isometric drawings. Skills in communication, mathematics, science, leadership, and problem-solving are reinforced in this course. Projects and activities developed throughout the course serve the purpose of providing hands-on experiences in simulating what is to be expected in career areas related to this course.

This course is a required elective for all students choosing Construction Trades as their career pathway required for graduation.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Attendance is expected to be excellent. As a guideline, attend at least 90% of the time. There is no more important predictor of success than excellent attendance. Additionally, excessive absences are required to be made up or passing the course, and possibly enrollment at Berry is jeopardized.

2. Attend and complete all required course examinations, including the End Of Course exam.

3. Complete all required course projects.

4. Actively participate and take part in all class discussions.

5. Obtain needed supplies. ( 1”- 1 ½” three ring binder, notebook paper and dividers, one or more 0.5 or 0.7mm mechanical pencil and a lead supply, ie: 3 tubes/ pkgs. of 10 leads) CHECK at DOLLAR STORES!!!!!!

6. Respect your opportunity at Berry and take pride in your working environment. Help maintain the laboratory and keep clean on a daily basis.
