Reminder: Fill in your reading log daily. / Reading: (Reading Unit 1: Reading Growth Spurt) Practice building stamina in reading by reading for at least 30-40 minutes every day and recording it on your reading log.
Readers monitor how well they are reading. As you read, think about how well you are reading. Are you reading with a 3 or 4 star fluency? Are you asking questions as you read? Are you stopping and jotting every 2-3 pages? Are you thinking about the Central Message?
Writing: (Writing Unit 1: Narrative Writing) Please see the attached 2nd Grade Narrative Writing Checklist to check for Spelling and Punctuation.
➢Continue your small moment story. Remember that the right punctuation makes a story come to life. Reread your story and check for the best punctuation to make your story come to life.

Remember to ask questions are you read. For example: WHO are the characters in the story? WHAT is Henry’s big problem in the story? WHY is this a problem? WHERE is the story taking place? HOW does Stellaluna feel when she gets separated from her mother?

Reminder: Fill in your reading log daily. / Reading: (Reading Unit 1: Reading Growth Spurt) Practice building stamina in reading by reading for at least 30-40 minutes every day and recording it on your reading log.As you read,remember that readers think and ask questions as they read. During your reading,write at least 2 stop and jots. Some examples are: What type of person is the character? Are they kind? Selfish? Shy? Use
examples from the text to prove your idea. What are the big events (problems, conversations) that are happening? How are the big events changing what is happening in the story? How do you feel about the character? Do you agree with their actions,feelings, or words? Tell why or why not.
