Summary of role

The Director develops and translates the strategic objectives of Time and Talents into its day to day operations and structures, overseeing projects and their funding and the management and hiring out of its historic building.

The previous Director and the Trustees have overseen one restructure of the organisation and set a clear strategic direction. The Board is now looking for a new Director to ensure Time and Talents continues to thrive and serve its community within the context of the current funding challenges facing all multi-purpose community organisations. This will include identifying new sources of income, developing contracts and services, carrying out further staffing restructuring as required and exploring how best to work with and alongside other local organisations.

·  Set and monitor performance against appropriate standards and/or grant conditions and developing new services for the local community’s unmet needs.

·  Represent the charity externally, marketing services, managing media relations, promoting the contribution of individual projects and the organisation as a whole to the local community. This includes supporting existing partnership arrangements and exploring opportunities for closer collaborative work with other organisations.

·  Identify appropriate sources of funding and income and write applications as required, providing sufficient information both to secure funding and to produce monitoring and evaluation reports as required.

·  Develop the Funding Strategy, building effective relationships with individuals, companies, public sector bodies and trusts to maintain existing and develop new income streams. Ensure that income earned through use of the premises and other resources and events, is maximised.

·  Responsible for proposing and managing the annual budget, setting appropriate staffing levels, running an efficient organisation, providing regular management accounts, monitoring variances and the financial health of Time and Talents and advising Trustees of any actions required in relation to their liabilities and duties.

·  Maintain/develop robust policies and procedures, ensuring that Time and Talents complies with relevant legislation and contracts and taking responsibility for regular processes such as payroll.

·  Provide operational leadership and motivate the team of staff and volunteers.

·  Setting and providing feedback on objectives, conducting regular appraisals and identifying and supporting development of staff. Other line management responsibilities as required, such as recruitment and selection and disciplinary hearings.

·  Supporting the Board in reviewing its performance and structures on an ongoing basis, revising its Memorandum and Articles and recruiting new Trustees
