“Activity Days for Girls” Information Sheet

Dear Activity Days for Girls Coordinator,

Thank you so much for accepting the call to work in the ______Ward Primary as an Activity Days for Girls Coordinator (formerly called Achievement Days). We REALLY appreciate your hard work and willingness to help! We look forward to getting to know each other better and helping our girls learn to apply gospel principles through the Faith in God (FIG) program. We know the Lord will bless you for your service.

Activity Days for Girls

Girls ages 8-11 meet twice each month to participate in group activities under the direction of Activity Days for Girls leaders. These activities are usually held midweek during the daytime and focus on the areas listed in the “Faith in God for Girls” booklet. Leaders should plan experiences that provide opportunities for the children to live the gospel, increase bonds of friendship, learn skills, and give service. (See FIG, pp. 4-13, 17-19.)

It is very important to involve the girls in the FIG program to prepare them for young womanhood, instill a desire to get married in the temple, to have a family, to serve others, and to live the YW values. The better the foundation they gain in Primary, the better they’ll withstand the worldly pressures once they advance to Young Women.

We currently hold our Activity Days for Girls on ______at ______. You may hold Activity Days for Girls at someone’s home or at the ward building (have two Priesthood holders present if using the ward building). If necessary, please coordinate with your committee partner and the girls in your group to see which day and time works best for everyone. Let (INSERT counselor over Activity Days for Girls) know what you have decided.

Budget & Planning

We have budgeted $___ per month for (insert year here). You may use the following resources in planning Activity Days for Girls: “Faith in God for Girls” booklet, “My Gospel Standards,” the Friend, and the children themselves. Parents and others with specific skills may be invited to help.

Please read through the entire “Faith in God for Girls” booklet before planning, and then review the booklet regularly. Plan your activity days around the activities listen in the booklet. We ask that you plan activities six months in advance and submit your plans to the Primary presidency by January and July. This will give the Primary presidency a chance to review it and give you approval for spending. You may want to meet with the girls first to see which activities still need to be passed off. When submitting receipts, write your name and phone # on your receipts, and a note about the purchase, and turn them into the Primary Secretary (make a copy for your records).

Your Stewardship

Please seek inspiration from the Holy Ghost in fulfilling this important calling. You will draw near to the Lord through prayer, scripture study, and obedience to His commandments. We ask that you pray to Heavenly Father to develop a sincere love for each girl in your group. Her relationship with her leaders will have a profound effect on how she feels about the Church and the gospel. As you nourish the girls with “the good word of God” (Moroni 6:4) and bear your testimony, you will help them gain a strong foundation in the gospel to help them throughout their youth and adulthood. We also ask that you be especially sensitive to the needs of any girls who come from part-member families or where they lack strong support for gospel living.

Recording Progress

We would like you to sit down with each girl and find out where they are in meeting their FIG requirements. Please use a progress tracker for each girl and report their progress to us quarterly, so that we include it in our quarterly stake report.
